Spark by Hilton Matteson Chicago I 57

We got there and the staff was very nice and friendly , we checked in , went to our room , the room was clean, bed was comfy, room was spacious it was nice, but it was a sauna in there, we were there about an hour and half before we had to leave for a concert, in that hour and half a maintenance crew came in and exchanged the air conditioner, it wasn't working , we should expect a cold room and air conditioner working properly by the take we return ..we got back around 11pm and the air conditioner they put in stopped working also, I call the staff and they said they couldn’t do anything because the maintenance team were gone already for the day and they couldn’t do much..so I had to sleep in that room with the air conditioner down and felt like a sauna , I got very little sleep and woke up early to leave..after sitting outside and at a concert that was also outside in about 100 degrees temp. We thought we’d come back to a cold room , nope! The hotel couldn’t offer any help or vouchers because I had booked through Expedia as well👎 that was the big downfall or only thing wrong with my stay and it was terrible that it was that cus I would have enjoyed it that problem was fixed and handled better ..

It’s a low budget hotel and was exactly what we needed for a night. No frills, but clean, friendly and comfortable. My second time staying at a Spark by Hilton and I have no regrets.

The toaster had a broken lever and didn’t toast the bread. There was a non working air conditioner in the hallway. The Hampton was full… this place could be nice if it was managed a bit better.

Leaving a one star review across the board because this hotel charged me a $75 fee. They originally said it was for the incidental, but over a week later that hadn’t been credited from my card and we did not damage the room or leave it in a mess. Then when I pressed that issue, they told me it was because I was a no show at the hotel even though we did in fact stay there. I was supposed to have received a phone call from the manager for a refund because that apparently is the only person who can do a refund and I have yet to. Tried calling them for 30 minutes straight and no one would answer the phone. The funny thing is is that the staff had commented that we had got a good deal on our room as it was going for more money now. My assumption is, they are trying to recoup the money that they could have sold the room for had we not booked in advance. Do not stay here.

Kimberly and Chashona were so nice, friendly and helpful the entire stay. The hotel room was nice except for the pillows which had no support at all and needed to be upgraded. The staff were able to get my room ready earlier than 3pm as I had an engagement scheduled downtown @ 4pm. I was able to check in early and get to my appointment on time. My only issue was that after check in my room was never cleaned by housekeeping..I had to seek them out for clean towels. My bed never got made nor my trash emptied.I will note that I was glad that a hair dryer , iron and ironing board were provided as I forgot mine and had to iron all my clothes from being wrinkled in my suitcase!!!

DirtyRoom , repairs everywhere, unfinished, shower without maintenance, etc.

There is no pool but overall it was an okay room, not worth the price they charge though

Everything that you need is in the room. So if you forget anything they have it

Property was dirty, shower curtains were nasty, walls in the bathroom were dirty. The staff was unhelpful except for Destiny, the concierge that took care of our check-in. I would not stay here ever gain and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I should've know it wasn't cleaned when the iron and blow dryer were both on the top shelf, unraveled, and unkempt.

I was at the hotel on Friday, July 31, 26 until Monday, August 3, 2026. I was not able to check in at 3pm due to their system was down due to the storm. The staff was right on top of it. I was about approx. 430 or 5pm I was able to get my room it was on the 2nd floor (201) nice room clean no issues at all. it's just me I had washed and dried the towels and bedding I used before I left. I know I did not have to but i did. The lobby area was beautiful, yes, I would return to hotel and will recommend. I did not realize that was the old LaQunita and my family stay behind the Spark. I moved from Chicago and that was the hotel when I was living in chicago. nice hotel

The front desk attendant was spectacularly inattentive. The room was fine but the shampoo dispenser in the shower was empty. The bathmat was dirty.
