The prices to everything there is disrespectful straight up!

The property is very big. It can take a long time to get from your room to the pool, beach, etc. The water activities are great for kids.

The room was a nice size spacious. The staff was very accommodating. The pools were beyond fanatic. The hotel property is beautiful. We definitely enjoyed our staff.

  • Engine customer Jul 2026

Obviously, not the staff’s fault as it was a local utility issue but the hotel’s utter lack of communication was extremely disappointing. Especially for the expectations one has being a guest there.

Very beautiful grounds and friendly staff. It was very crowded. Small pool and lots of people. All restaurants were booked, with the exception of quick service poolside bar & grill.

Once we got to the room, there was leftover food in the fridge and the waters that were included in the room were missing. Called front desk who was very apologetic (as was room attendant who called later to apologize). Front desk sent someone with waters but never picked up the old food. My husband ended up taking it down to the lobby because the wifi wasn't working. Had to make several calls/visits to front desk to get wifi working, and eventually a manager ended up saying they'd wave the daily resort fee. Got home and fee wasn't waved, leading to yet another call. Finally got it sorted the week after. Elevators are very small for as large a resort as it is. We took the stairs most everywhere so we wouldn't have to wait. A couple deceased roaches, one in pool and one in a stairwell. Besides the floating roach, we did enjoy the pool area (chairs go quick), waterslides and beach, especially my 11 year old. Staff, including valet service, was also helpful aside from issues in the beginning of our stay.

The room was large and fairly clean. The hallway carpets are tired looking and stained. People keep garbage outside their doors. Breakfast options were limited…. Other very pricey buffet or a store (reasonable priced but long line ups). The pool is very crowded and very dirty. Hard to find a seat- often can find a chair by the beach but the view is a hedge not the ocean. Valet service is a nightmare- expect to wait 15-20 minutes for your car. The fitness area is great but they don’t let children under 11 use any equipment.

The seating at the pool is a huge problem. They do not have enough seats and will remove your items if you do not go back to your seat once every hour. One employee actually admitted to throwing our items away, instead of holding them as they’re supposed too. This is hard considering there are many different pools and the expansive size of the pool and beach area. You have to wait in a long line for pool towels. My room did not get cleaned the first day so I reached out and it was then clean every other day. They would restock the coffee pods but not the creamers so I had to ask for that. Honestly very let down considering the price.

It’s just not the same…. Like so many things these days it just isn’t up to the standards it once was for luxury, quality and service. This was my fifth trip to the Grand Wailea since it originally opened. The grounds were still mostly beautiful although many tiki torches were nonfunctioning, handrails missing, cracked, missing tiles at the adult pool was particularly sad to see and areas within the grounds that just seemed unkept, especially around the old Asian restaurant, which is now shuttered/abandoned. Upon arrival, I immediately knew that something was a miss when the incredible waterfall that sets the tone for the grandeur that was always promised was inoperative. The staff says it has been broken for over a year and has not been fixed. This was the center piece of the tropical experience for me. It is this lack of maintenance that would keep me from going back to the Grand Wailea as it is no longer a five star resort, even after their $350 million partial resort renovation. Our ocean view room was large and comfortable, but the decor was as basic as a Holiday Inn. One picture, one decorative mirror was all the design afforded. You could tell they’ve cut way back on staff too. It is still a worthy of at least one holiday if your priority is to enjoy the extensive pools, spa, etc. If you’re truly looking for a five star experience, the Four Seasons is a better choice.

The hotel was amazing from check in to check out. Staff was super helpful, and always asking if they can assist. The pools, beach, and grounds were all beautiful and easy to use.

Food and drinks are very overpriced. Not enough space or seats at the pool.

    Great.

Love the Grand Wailea but things are starting to show wear and tear. They need updating on the cobblestone pathways around the pools. There are broken ones that you can trip on and they become so slippery I saw several people fall while we’re there. They also get so hot during the day people are always complaining and rushing to get off them. There has to be some sort of non-slip/anti heat coating they can put on them or they should find a new material to use. It’s dangerous. Bathrooms in the rooms could also use a deep clean but everything else about the property is absolutely beautiful!

The breakfast buffet was not as good as I had hoped. All the baked items (pancakes, waffles, pastries, etc.) were super underwhelming and didn't feel fresh.  One thing really bothered me that I'm having trouble letting go of it. I ordered two drinks at the pool bar. When I went back to order a third the bartender told me he lost my first receipt and asked me to sign a new receipt for a charge of 3 drinks. I did however when I asked to confirm that the first charge would not appear on my bill I wasn't totally confident in his answer. So I texted the front desk to ensure I wasn't being double charged. It took them 28 hours from my first test to get back to me with an answer. This caused me extra anxiety and worry during one of my vacation days that felt so unnecessary and really stained the service of the hotel. All over a $75 drink order.... I don't understand why they couldn't get an answer to me sooner and never really got an explanation. The last thing is they have no place to shower off after check out for those who fly out later. We had a red eye and stayed at the hotel way beyond checkout time. I had to fly home covered in sand and chlorine. My husband used soap in the beach showers to get as clean as possible.

Great stay. Wife and daughter loved it and made me a hero.

Room not clean well . Insect everywhere even cockroaches. Stuff most white stuff are not helpful and the pool not really clean.

  • Engine customer Jun 2026

Good food but very overpriced. Rooms could have been nicer for the price. Everything is extremely overpriced at the entire resort.

It’s got an amazing location. It felt like they are letting the hotel go down a bit though. The staff serving the pool area was paper thin. Cabana rentals that use to be $500 are now $1700/day. Our room had a broken ceiling light we had to have a repair man do for over a hour and even after that it stopped working again. The tongs and glasses in our room had built up food grime on them. Wait times at restaurants were long to nonexistent there, even though they had plenty of open tables. Just not the happy experience we use to have in years past going there.

Great hotel. Had an awesome stay and staff was very friendly. Beautiful property and love that you could walk right onto the beach from the resort.

  • Engine customer Jun 2026

Over rated, out dated and in desperate need of a renovation. Stains on comforter, black mold in shower, bathtub drain handle broken and the worst was toilet paper, same as a porta potty.
