This small converted mansion house was great for the proximity to Summerfest and scooter availability. Location was most important for this trip to MKE. The hotel had a small restaurant and bar open at 5 pm. We never dined there as we had so many other options. This was a come and go type of hotel for the independent traveler. Parking was convenient too. Definitely would stay again

Charming place to stay in a lovely location. The bar, Agency, was a delight to have there in the lobby.

Loved it! Clean and convenient. The room was big. The bathroom was clean and renovated. Love the concept. We’ll be back again.

I sat up with my friend talking for a couple hours, and we would’ve loved an ottoman between the two chairs to rest our feet on.

Location, parking, rapid response to questions, charm

Excellent property! Near to everything we wanted to do, and very walkable!! Loved the building! Beautiful!!
-
Beautiful historic building in a great location! Loved every minute of our stay!

No front desk and need code to enter. Parking you need to reserve, and I called and did it over the phone when I got to my room. Person on the phone did it promptly.

This mansion is absolutely better than a hotel! It makes you feel like you are going back in time. The original woodwork, comfort of the room, and ambience are like no other. Nothing at all!
-
The wall mounted air conditioner was apparently broken in the room, so they installed a temporary window unit that was very loud and pointed straight at the bed. Between the cold air blowing on us and the intermittent noise of the unit running, it was hard to hear the TV, let alone get to sleep. Being on the first floor, the adjoining night club was also very loud, at least when the AC was not running. Other than that, the room was nice, the bed was comfortable, and the building has a lot of historic character.

I liked the architecture and the style of the room. The sheets were not cleaned everyday.

Location was fabulous and I love how you preserved the original woodwork. The local soaps and steady hot water were also a bonus. Proximity to museums, lake unexpected and beautiful-- why no literature about local attractions in the room? People-watching the commuters was fun. I got a lot of emails pushing another local restaurant which got confusing to wade through when I was trying to find my reservation details. I'd push it once, at the same time you deliver the key code. What I would hype are the parking opportunities nearby outside of the $35 dollar spaces for the hotel. Save the $35 ones for emergency booking for last-minute guests. Planners will find out about the cheaper slots nearby which are also a boon to the hotel and can be pre-booked online.

Great Location for Lakefront/Summerfest

Didn't have breakfast. Was a very pleasant stay and we'll definitely be back.

How a lot of the hotel kept its original woodwork of its age Nothing

Location and historic building Hours of bar. Could have been decorated to be more welcoming

There is a bar in the building that is loud until midnight. The parking fee was higher than the site warranted. The sofa couch was not suitable for any over 5' tall. It all depends on the room you get in terms of the experience. I would not stay there again, as it was more costly and had little to recommend it. No microwave in the room. Fridge froze my food overnight, making it useless and uneatable. NOT appropriate if you cannot walk up steps easily. I think a regular hotel room would have offered better service at a more reasonable price.

Booked through Expedia, which buried the details of this being an "invisible service" model hotel. We have had one encounter with this type of venue before in Bayfield, WI with a similarly underwhelming experience. Lesson learned, I will do better research next time to make sure I verify this detail in advance. Our preferred option, the St. Kate - which has exceptional service at a similar price and is just a few blocks away - had no availability for the night we needed and led us to seek out another option. The pictures and glowing reviews made this seem like a suitable alternative, but was unfortunately not supported by direct experience. Lack of service aside, the quality of the environment did not meet our expectation as the renovation felt a little thin and superficial rather than well-done.

Nice place to stay.
