We specifically selected Lone Oak because of the air conditioner, paying $375 a night for accommodations. The air conditioner did not work. Repeated requests to the front desk for assistance did not help; they did not know how to set the thermostat. A front desk girl said one family complained because it was too cold. Management is well aware of issues with heating and cooling but chooses to ignore. Repeated requests for a credit were not applied. The hotel is on a busy road - too noisy to keep windows open - and NOT safe at night to sleep on the first floor with windows open. Especially if you have young daughters. It's not possible to cool off at the patio table outside, because every cushion was torn. It was difficult to sleep, resulting in weary drivers the next day on winding mountain roads. The rooms were recently remodeled, but linens are small and the blanket is thin (bring your our towels and blankets if you stay here) At checking, I wanted to change the credit card, staff said the credit is used for a deposit and I can change the card at checkout. She didn't know how to change a credit card. Upon checkout, we were informed the full charge was applied at check-in. Every aspect of the stay was miserable, from check-in to check-out.

    Too much price escalations

Clean and convenient but had insanely bright lights that flooded the room (even with shades) with light all night. Had to put a blanket over the windows.

My room was back in a dark corner of the property. Very noisy and loud AC unit that seemed to cycle on and off every 5 minutes and the shower doors wouldn’t stay closed leaving a large puddle on the tile floor. The room wasn’t very comfortable

No blinds, just shutters so there is no blocking the bright parking lot lights. Loudest A/C I have ever heard. Hard to fall asleep. No amenities.

    It was clean.

The stuff not available the chairs the ground dirty

It was good and clean when we got there, but there was a mouse in my room and there was no other rooms available so either we were out $200 and stay somewhere else or just deal with. Although they did clean the room very well after and the lady at the front desk was very nice. They did not offer a refund but I ended up asking and only got $30 back. It also took a month to get my refund. Although it is not their fault, it still was not a great experience with mouse poop in the room and in our food.

Free parking. Outdated. Sheets stained. AC very loud.

Room smelled like bathroom cleaner. Bed was rock hard. Front desk person came and knocked loudly on my door shortly after check-in, under the pretext of seeing if I needed a remote control for the TV. However, she was obviously checking to see if I snuck a pet into the room. The hotel charges a $100 fee if they catch you with an unregistered pet. Only 2 bath towels were provided, both small and thin. When A/C came on it vibrated so loud the furniture shook.

The only thing I didn't like are the beds, the mattresses are extremely hard, they are not comfortable

    Location

  • Engine customer Aug 2026

It was all good, there was 1 bedside lamp missing from the room we were in. All seemed to be clean

  • Engine customer Aug 2026

The light above bath vanity didn’t work, bath faucet very sticky and difficult to operate, shower door wouldn’t stay closed and the WiFi didn’t work. I commented to the young lady in the office upon check-out about the WiFi and her response (without even looking up at me) was “that happens when we have a lot of guests”.

Room was clean enough. Towels were terrible, very bad. Beds made crazy loud sound when you sat or laid on them. Didn't sleep at all. Neighbors sounded like they were moving our furniture around all night...Literally, all night... None of us got any sleep. But the real shocker was the 120 dB AC unit that shook the whole building when it kicked on... It was crazy!!!

The Lone Oak Lodge was an ideal place for us to enjoy a few aspects of Monterey--the aquarium, cathedral, and dining. It had welcoming and helpful staff (answers to all of our questions about the area--including where we might eat and how to get around). There was abundant parking. The room was really big, including a main room, bathroom and an extra bedroom; this was nice as we have a teenager. The room was clean, with like-new amenities. It was quiet, too. That all of this came at a very reasonable price made it all a very good deal for us.
