Red Roof Inn & Suites Monterey

First the AC was not working, the couldn’t switch my family rooms or even discount the room they offer a little fan instead, next there were ants everywhere the first morning we woke up, no pest control, they did clean the room but they were back by evening. Terrible, front desk guys were very nice but nobody was very helpful, with any actual solutions

Booked two weeks in advance even called to verify 2 days before my check-in and the day I show up im informed that the room is booked for me and my children was no longer available due to the roof collapsing cuz if a plumbing issue. I was never called or let know ahead of my arrival even though the incident was 4 days before my arrival. When I asked for the manager she told staff via email that she wasn't available to speak to me and I COULD FIND A DIFFERENT HOTEL if id like. Worst customer service possible. No blame on receptionist but manager refused to communicate with me about the situation even thos she was on the property. Never stay here.

The hotel staff were friendly and nice. The location is good. I stayed in the room with 2 king beds and a jetted bath. The room was very spacious and also it had a back patio with table and chairs. Parking was ok. The only thing that was made my trip bad was that we came back from the beach and the ceiling in our hotel was leaking dirty water in multiple spots onto the floor and into the jetted tub. The floor had so much puddles of water. I called the front desk and the staff member came quickly and put towels and gave one bucket. The staff Memeber called the maintenance guy and he came after and put more bigger trash cans to catch the dripping water. He also put holes into the ceiling to drain the water. So much dirty water came out. The water had a bad smell and since the maintenance guy couldn’t fix it that same night, we had to sleep with the windows open to air the smell. The staff Memeber that night did notify their manager. He also told me that I can switch room the next day if rooms do get available. I came to the office the next day and Sergio at the front desk did give us 2 rooms to switch to later that day. He did tell me that he told his boss name Mary won’t be back to work until Monday. This event of leaking water in the ceiling ruin my trip because I had to leave the Monterey bay aquarium and go back to hotel to move my stuff to new rooms and by the time I got done the aquarium was closed. So I’m still waiting for the manager Mary to call me. Thanks to staff.

Not the best area, room was big and accommodated the entire family, but the floor needed to be swept and balcony should be cleaned off. Was very dirty. Not a bad room, but does not deserve a 5 star.

Would not stay there again. Overpriced for what it was. Has not been updated in a while.

Our room had mid-matched paint on the walls and some spots were just patched with drywall mud and not painted at all. The kitchen was made of MDF cabinets that had seen betters days. The pillows were terribly uncomfortable. Could have been better for $220 a night
