Clean but the bathroom had a bad sewerage smell which impacted the stay.

Be disappointed if you’re expecting any bells or whistles. It worked for an overnight but staying any more than that would not have been ideal. Didn’t feel the area was the safest being right off the main busy street .

We opted to not have our room tidied up while staying so it was really nice to easily grab towels and such from the office cabinets as needed. We had sweet service and good breakfast at the cafe that shares the same parking lot which made for quick and easy stop before heading out for the day’s activities.

When we checked in, we informed the concierge Judi, who deeply sympathized with our story. She did everything she could to help us get in contact with Uber to figure out how we could get our missing items back. Since we were both a bit anxious, Judi spent some time giving us the best recommendations San Francisco has to offer. It is clear that she is extremely knowledgeable and truly embodies the history and culture of this town. Later that same day, we received word that the missing back had been dropped off at the Handlrey. After a bit of running around and frantic back and forth, Judi finds us and informs us that the Uber driver dropped off our bag. She went to the back and hand-delivered it to us herself. And, after the whole ordeal, she arranged some gifts that we enjoyed in our room later that day! It’s very rare to receive such kind and welcoming hospitality, but this is what can be expected at the Handlery. Judi, you truly made us feel at home and you completely turned our vacation around. Thank you so much. Tony Bennett said it best - I left my heart in San Fransisco… people like Judi are what make this City truly fantastic.

Good for the price & area!

Great place to stay. Super clean, close to tourism spots and quiet.

I was in town for my daughter’s engagement and I stayed here with my two small dogs just one night. The room was very clean and everything worked. The man who checked me in was friendly and efficient. I was on a ground floor room and the dog potty are was just next to my room which was nice. The are was clean. I was able to park in front of my room. I really loved that there were no key cards to lose and the lock on the door was operated by code! My experience here was great and I would definitely stay again. Thank you!

The room was very beautiful and spacious. The staff were very helpful and there was plenty of parking.

This place was great for work and fun. The room was clean and had everything you'd need for a good night's stay: microwave, fridge, TV, and a desk. The bathroom was good, and the bedding was okay. It looked like it had been recently updated, too. Overall, a good spot for a quick night in Monterey.

The staff members were attentive, friendly, and eager to assist with any requests. Everything in the room was spotless, and I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with excellent service.

We love this place as it’s go to place in Monterey. It’s always clean, fair price and good location. Rooms have hard flooring so not any nasty carpet. This trip we had some challenge. We stayed in room 212. The edge of the bed was super squeaky. If me or my spouse rolled close to it or wanted to get out of bed middle of night it certainly woke the other up! Dish satellite worked good until our last day. Tv didn’t worked and we missed the World Cup game. Room is nice with fridge and microwave. I told the owners about the issues and I hope these are taken care of so we can visit again. Thanks

Great place to stay and REALLY clean.

Love the microwave and fridge, super clean and quiet. I would get upstairs room next time, someone wearing boots kept pacing around and dragging his rolling chair back and forth
