Monterey Surf Inn

A wonderful spot on a row of a handful of hotels in Monterey THIS ONE is the best bet. Cozy, clean, stylish and helpful accommodating staff. My girl friend and I will be staying here again when we travel up north.

Really nice and simple. I was concerned for safety because i don’t know nothing about the area but is really nice the area and seams safe overall. No hair dryer, no breakfasts. I have a great time. Reasonable TV the only thing is that the dish tv box is behind the tv. The remote signal gets block so is hard to change channels.

Clean, basic, and an easy walk to downtown. Housekeeping staff is friendly and very helpful.

All Nothing

Staff were friendly and good service. Room was clean. Excellent location near shopping mall and easy walk to the Fishermen’s Wharf.

The air conditioning is very noisy. Also, there was noise most of the time at night.

The reason we did choose the hotel was we believe it was a location that was good to Carmel The bathroom door did not shut properly. One of the floorboards was raised and I stub my toes. We were unaware that this property was one of the more highly used roads in Monterey. Load car sounds late at night. We selected this hotel because it had a 3 star rating, when we believe it is barely a 2-star rated hotel. In addition, the pool area was empty when it says in the advertisement pool and sauna are available.

No hot water

not great hotel, but for the price it was good. clean. small room, good place for the price.

Rooms are recently renovated with new paint, decor, lots of lights, and hard wood floor. Mattress was quite used with a ridge down the middle, but still soft. Bed sheets are of high quality. I spent 5 nights here as a solo female traveler. Felt safe and quiet here.

You can tell the bedsheets were not fully changed out. I found a hair on the bed. There were stains on the walls that were wipeable. The floor looked like it hadn’t been mopped in a minute. It was a bare minimum stay where I needed to sleep asap and leave immediately the following day. You get what you pay for.

Exceptional

There were two very disappointing things: First there was no luggage rack in my room which makes it awkward to look through my clothing suitcase. Secondly, I do a lot of work and the desk was narrow and the edge was sharp which makes it uncomfortable on the forearms. An ergonomic desk would be preferred.

Room was small with nowhere to hang clothes and no drawers. If you are staying with another person, no privacy for dressing since actual bathroom was very small. Personnel were excellent and friendly. Although it is not a great place now, it may be in the future.
