Awesome location right on the Guadalupe River. Great homemade southern breakfast with biscuits and gravy! Evening snacks and warm cookies. Room and bed were very comfortable! Would highly recommend to others! 👌

Start with love how patriotic this hotel was and then we got the 1776 theme room so even better with a balcony view of the river which you can walk to and take cool dip in then warm up in the hot tub. Loved the social and great breakfast

This place is absolutely perfect! The breakfasts are so good. The staff are friendly and helpful. The location is perfect - close to everything, but still feels private. The hotel and rooms are the perfect mix of Texas Hill Country and Southern Living charm. We’ll be back.

Gruene River Hotel + Retreat is a FANTASTIC place for the complete "hotel experience." Each room is individually decorated, and it's a joy to make little discoveries in the decor that contribute to the overall theme. We've stayed in the 1776 Room, The Vineyard and Cozy Cabin, and all were fantastic. The breakfast is first rate, they serve free beer and wine for happy hour, and the property is just beautiful, with its limestone and multi-level deck where you can watch the river flow and see deer before breakfast. Staff is all very nice too - super-helpful - and it's so much fun to talk with other guests. We stayed over my birthday and leading up to the Fourth of July, and it was so nice to have such a relaxing stay among friendly folks. And of course the restaurants, bars and shopping in Gruene are always fantastic, when you do leave the hotel.

It was easy to and convenient to everything. The building is in excellent shape and fits in well with the surroundings. The complementary cooked fresh full breakfast was great and evening social time was enjoyable. The staff was very friendly and helpful and our room was clean and comfortable. I didn’t find anything I didn’t like

Location location location “River view” room but couldn’t see the river cause the trees. I wouldn’t call that River view

As busy as Gruene can be (and was this weekend), the property feels like you’re in a totally different world. The complimentary breakfast was fantastic and the service was 5 Star.

AMAZING STAY!

Our room was lovely with a king bed, leather chairs, a huge bathroom (with red slipper tub) and a private balcony with river views. The breakfast was chef prepared and delicious! There were always snacks, cookies and water out for guests. Deer were all over the property and it is right in the center of Gruene so it’s easy to walk to all the sights and not worry about parking. Highly recommend!

We had a perfect stay at Gruene River Hotel & Retreat. Everything was extremely clean, the staff was wonderful, and the entire property felt relaxing and well cared for. The homemade breakfast each morning was absolutely delicious, and we loved visiting and talking with the staff — everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The additional snacks and drinks offered throughout the day really made the experience feel extra special. The grounds are beautiful, and we especially enjoyed spending time by the riverside. We would definitely stay here again!
