Gruene River Hotel & Retreat

Gruene River Hotel + Retreat is a FANTASTIC place for the complete "hotel experience." Each room is individually decorated, and it's a joy to make little discoveries in the decor that contribute to the overall theme. We've stayed in the 1776 Room, The Vineyard and Cozy Cabin, and all were fantastic. The breakfast is first rate, they serve free beer and wine for happy hour, and the property is just beautiful, with its limestone and multi-level deck where you can watch the river flow and see deer before breakfast. Staff is all very nice too - super-helpful - and it's so much fun to talk with other guests. We stayed over my birthday and leading up to the Fourth of July, and it was so nice to have such a relaxing stay among friendly folks. And of course the restaurants, bars and shopping in Gruene are always fantastic, when you do leave the hotel.

It was easy to and convenient to everything. The building is in excellent shape and fits in well with the surroundings. The complementary cooked fresh full breakfast was great and evening social time was enjoyable. The staff was very friendly and helpful and our room was clean and comfortable. I didn’t find anything I didn’t like

Location location location “River view” room but couldn’t see the river cause the trees. I wouldn’t call that River view

As busy as Gruene can be (and was this weekend), the property feels like you’re in a totally different world. The complimentary breakfast was fantastic and the service was 5 Star.

AMAZING STAY!

Our room was lovely with a king bed, leather chairs, a huge bathroom (with red slipper tub) and a private balcony with river views. The breakfast was chef prepared and delicious! There were always snacks, cookies and water out for guests. Deer were all over the property and it is right in the center of Gruene so it’s easy to walk to all the sights and not worry about parking. Highly recommend!

We had a perfect stay at Gruene River Hotel & Retreat. Everything was extremely clean, the staff was wonderful, and the entire property felt relaxing and well cared for. The homemade breakfast each morning was absolutely delicious, and we loved visiting and talking with the staff — everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The additional snacks and drinks offered throughout the day really made the experience feel extra special. The grounds are beautiful, and we especially enjoyed spending time by the riverside. We would definitely stay here again!

Great location in Gruene to enjoy a concert, eat at Grist Mill and stroll the shops. Room was beautiful. Great feel overall. Highly recommend this property.

Very comfortable room and delicious breakfast

The property is so peaceful. The complimentary breakfast was delicious. Loved sitting down by the river enjoying our coffee. And being a 5 minute walk from countless restaurants and shops was perfect!

EVERYTHING was perfect for our stay. This is such a quaint place and beautiful property. We really enjoyed our balcony and the view and the breakfast is excellent and above expectations. We walked the neighborhood, Gruene Hall and Gristmill are only approximately 3 properties over from the hotel. There were two restaurants in New Braunfels we wanted to visit and it was a 10 minute UBER ride. We left our vehicle secure at the hotel. Staff is excellent as well. Wine, beer & snacks at happy hour. We will definitely stay here again. There's really nothing we didn't like. If I have to put something here it would be extra wash cloths (which you gave me) or 2 versus 1 mini body wash.

Clean room staff very helpful. Amenities great shops in Gruene stores all in walking distance. Free breakfast great. The perfect place to stay in Gruene private patio for guests. We loved it. Great getaway for adults.

What a great place! We were only able to spend one night but loved our stay. We were greeted cheerfully and had a wonderful room (the 1776 room). We felt at home here. Room isn’t overly large but the bathroom is and the room also has a balcony. Breakfast is included and is delicious and fresh.

Next level is experience. Great for adult getaway with walking distance to food and music. Safe to walk around at night.

This place is so wonderful, they get details down!! Privacy is beyond !! Staff was so hospitable to everyone!!!
