The Neighborhood Hotel-New Buffalo

Absolutely love the location love the decor love the staff everything about it was a 10 Out of 10! Can’t think of anything

Pros: walking distance to shops, grocery store, restaurants, and the beach (altho that last one is tricky in the middle of summer!). Assigned parking. Keypad entry was handy (no keys to worry about losing!). There’s also no staff on the premises, which I had no issue with. The kitchen was spotless - so for those wanting to cook on vaca, know this kitchen will accommodate! For us, it was a perfect spot to eat our pizza from Brewsters (restaurant across the street. Highly recommend!!) Cons: our room was off the only public seating area, on the back porch. So we had other guests laughing and chatting right outside our door while we were trying to rest. Nbd, but it could be annoying to some. Our room was also very small. The bed was comfortable, but it would’ve been nice to have another place to sit. Minor fixes - like the shower head could use cleaning, and the paint could stand to be touched up - would help justify the $300+ per night for that, too.

The Neighborhood Hotel is a combo of hotel and an airbnb. With the neighborhood hotel you are paying for location not amenities. The location is perfect. You can walk to all the stores, restaurants, and beach. It was a great location since we had teenagers with us. They could walk and do their own thing. I prefer the service and amenities of a hotel, but I loved the location and vibe of the neighborhood hotel. Our girls used the shed in back to have their own time and watch Netflix, etc. We stayed in the room with the queen bed and two bunk beds. I would have preferred an extra bathroom. The room is smaller than it appears online, but it worked for us. There is laundry available, which I appreciated, because they only provide one set of towels. I would have appreciated a second set of towels. A beach vacation requires more showering due to sunscreen etc, so I did have to do towels a couple times. The location was nice and quiet Monday thru Wednesday. It got considerably busier and louder by Thursday. New Buffalo is one of our favorite towns, and I think we’ll definitely stay here again!

I would have given this property 4-5 stars except for the customer service. The fire alarms went off 3 times in our 2 night stay at approx 4am, 6pm, then again at 11pm. Other guests who stayed there tried to contact someone and had a very difficult time getting through. We never did receive an answer why they went off. This is very disruptive as we were already asleep 2 of the 3 times, and it is concerning that no staff was available to figure out what the issue was.

LOVED this hotel! Walking distance to pretty much everything, a short drive from lots of shops and the state parks for beaches. We loved getting a room with a balcony! Very clean and great amenities.

You will do a quick virtual check in and will receive codes the day of. All keys are codes you must rember and I always write it on my hand because I have been locked out without my phone. The code is your key, and the staff is responsive if you respond to welcome text. i also found that it is better for me to squat down at eye level with keypad otherwise I fat finger the code.

A big sunny room. But the hot water ended mid-shower. And I couldn't open the door to the terrace.

Outstanding experience all the way around. It was the first time we’ve stayed at a place that was not actively staffed and it turned out to be a great experience. The only issue we had was a lack of hot water in the shower both days - the hot water would stop for a few minutes before coming back which made our showers a bit tricky. In spite of this, we loved the room, the property, and the location.

We had the lower right handed deck which was just perfect. The unit so clean, the property so nice, and I would give it a perfect rating for any type of group.

Different feel, great location Price…way too high but we wanted to get away at the last minute.

The property features a modern design, is quiet, and is situated in the heart of New Buffalo. It has a parking spot and they reply super fast. You can see the high-quality materials and outstanding cleanliness. The bed was super comfy. I do not have anything that I didn't like. It was a perfect experience.

Excellent communication with host. The location was perfect. Our suite was immaculate. In walking distance to the beach, restaurants, and just for a quiet walk. Amenities like the fire pit, outdoor seating, picnic area and indoor area for gathering was and unexpected blessing.

Very cute and cozy. Centrally located in town. Nicely equipped community kitchen. Just perfect.
