The Brakeman Hotel

The Brakeman has hotel rooms on the second and third floors of an old train station. A lot character and is conveniently located close to music venues and restaurants. It also has parking.

The safest I have ever felt at a hotel was here. Staff is super vigilant, helpful and the hotel is amazing!!

Excellent location for the French Quarter and easy access to the highways. Nice and quiet an very well maintained.

Nice stay and convient

So the location of the Hotel was great. Short walk to bourbon street and canal street but far enough that you don't hear any noise. Their is a gas station right across the street in case you need anything. The hotel was clean and spacious and the railroad Museum inside the hotel was really neat. They also have a coffee spot located right in the hotel in case you need a drink in the morning. Would stay again.

Location was great; close to the French Quarter, but far enough from the noise off Bourbon Street. Rooms were very clean. Polite staff. Good value for money. Free parking would’ve been nice, but parking was still a lot cheaper compared to their competitors inside or near the French Quarter. Doors close for non-keycard holders after 5:00 pm.

Had a few issues. Toilet seat broken. Cold water vibrated when you turned it on. Poor housekeeping- ice bucket not cleaned, didn’t make bed right, no new bottle of water.

I stayed in a windowless King room which was fine and a nice size. Bathroom was also spacious and had a duel head walk-in shower. The sink did drip throughout the stay but wasn’t a huge deal, couldn’t hear it from the bed. The AC seemed to not do its job during the day as the room seemed a little warm and damp when coming back in the evenings but was remedied once the thermostat was turned down a couple degrees and stayed cool thru the night. The front desk is a little confusing as the Brakeman Hotel sign hangs over an empty reception desk and the actual one is behind and catty corner from that one. Once found, reception was friendly and let me check in at 1:00 since the room had just been cleaned. Cool lobby area connected to the trolley tour meeting area which had a gift shop and some interesting New Orleans memorabilia from the Old Basin St station that was here. So pretty solid, but more like an 8.6 overall for me. Probably try something else next time but enjoyed my stay and would tell a friend to at least check it out.

This small 18 room boutique hotel was exceptional. Conveniently located one block to the French Quarter. I stayed four nights and felt completely safe as the police station is across the street. There’s a convenience store across the street that had everything I needed. The one thing that stood was the staff! Omg! The hospitality was unbelievable. I wish I could remember everyone’s names but Mandy checked me in and I immediately felt like we were old friends. I’m definitely staying here again when I return! Nothing

Our room stayed on 77 degrees the entire trip. The air conditioner wasn’t working properly. Maintenance was called to fix it, but didn’t. We were told that because of the issue with the air, our parking fees would be waived. Looked at the bill just a few minutes ago and we were charged the full amount for parking.

It’s a beautiful property! Great staff, very comfortable, clean, and private rooms

Exceptional

I loved absolutely everything about this place. It’s very well kept and it’s so much fun. It’s quiet and quite beautiful Not much to say about things I didn’t like.

The room was beautiful, the shower was spacious, and the small fridge with complementary waters was a nice touch. There was also a hair dryer and lovely hygienic products. I enjoyed that it was a walkable distance to bourbon and a 20ish taxi back to the room. The reason I went with this place was for the affordable parking, hotel cleanliness, and the affordability with a lovely environment. I didn’t get to enjoy the shop since I came in late and left extra early to the airport. U would try the place again.

Fantastic boutique hotel. Makes you feel like your in old times New Orleans with the brick. Big room for the cost. Far enough away from the French Quarter so you don't get too much noise. Close enough to walk to everything. Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. Room was clean and fresh looking, bed was comfy, and we had a few of the cemetery. Downstairs is a tour you can take into the cemetery. Also a unique gift shop, complete with a small coffee cafe! I'd stay here again. Nothing
