Best Western Plus Chesapeake Bay-Norfolk

The hotel was great, but the floors in the hotel room are very dirty. We had to buy a swiffer and clean the floors ourselves other than that we had a wonderful time. The dog accommodations were wonderful.

Our room had a strong chemical smell, we both had sore throats within 5 minutes. Not sure what the cleaning staff used but will never stay at a Worst Western again!

Prime location for being ocean front and having direct access to the beach. Staff was friendly and helpful and the bed was comfortable however our room was not very clean. The rooms are outdated which doesn't bother me but I had to clean a bunch of hair off of the shower wall and there was mold around the grip bar in the shower. Floors were not swept.

Breakfast

The view was worth it. Do they all have balconies? Kitchenette had nothing stocked, not even a coffee pot. Maid came in the room, saw a batch of towels on BR floor, left them but she turned off a table lamp.

The staff was so so kind and friendly I honestly can't say enough good things about everyone I interacted with! The room could use some updating, but its still well maintained.

Exceptional

The room was very clean, roomy, and i enjoyed the closeness to the beach. The only issue i experienced with the hotel was the morning of the departure i woke sick, vomiting very ill. My husband asked for a 2 hour extension for me to get cleaned up and to be able to make the 8 hour trip home ; however he was told she was already full on late check outs. Sorry.

Unfortunately, there was very little to like about our experience. The hotel was conveniently located, but the condition of the rooms and the way our concerns were handled overshadowed any positives. Cute dog park though. The bathroom ceiling vent in our original room had active water leaking through it directly above the toilet from the exhaust fan light(fire hazard) We also noticed what appeared to be mold or mildew. After reporting the issue, we were shown a replacement room that had sticky, unswept floors, flies, and a pile of dead flies in a corner along with living flies. When we raised our concerns, we were told we would still be charged for the stay and could then check out. We documented the conditions with timestamped photos and videos. The lack of cleanliness, maintenance, and satisfactory resolution was extremely disappointing.

Nice spot on the water. We had a balcony. Enjoyed the view. The beach area is nice. The hotel could use an update. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Price a little high but then you are paying to be by the water/beach.

Great staff. Room was okay, get what you pay for. Wifi failed the entire second evening (strong winds maybe a factor). Breakfast was terrible, though - basically just salt, sugar and chemicals. Nothing in there was healthy.

Great property location setting just steps from the sand and ocean. Clean. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Our only complaints was you could hear everything outside and so it was very disruptive very early in the mornings with either other ten a or staff. They need some sound proofing. Would book this location again.

This is my favorite pace to stay when in VA beach. Love the convenience of the dog park and the pool and the common area with the tables and games available. The only thing missing for this place would be a little tiki bar of some sort.

Great location, steps to the beach, it needs a little renovation specially the carpet, room had a bit of a smell and the fire alarm went off randomly the two nights we stayed staff was nice and offered to send maintenance to check but because of miscommunication they never did.

We stayed at the hotel for a short weekend vacation. Nice view and older, but clean facilities. The breakfast was average (US style), the front desk service was quite good and friendly. The only major issue was that we didn't have any room clean up/ towel service for the 3 nights we were there. We live pretty simply, so we just re-used and kept our room clean. But it might have been nice to have fresh towels at one point during the stay. Lastly, the location is quiet and a little off the beaten path. Not much in walking distance. But the beach is convenient, the pool looked nice. Good hotel
