Gateway Hotel & Suites Ocean City, an Ascend Collection Hotel

Superb

The 4th floor side view of the city and Boardwalk. And the Lobby aroma was always pleasant during my stay. Also, sitting out front with my Wife taking in the calm atmosphere felt relaxing. The parking is tight! Hopefully, Gateway can expand the lot.

Walked across road and was on the boardwalk

Everything, especially the location. Only one umbrella at the pool and it was always taken. I have had skin cancer 3 times so I couldn't sit at the pool with my wife.

Exceptional

Gateway is a great hotel--very clean , large lobby with coffee and nice lounge area. Room was very large and well furnished. Beds comfy and especially the pillows were comfortable. The shower had long lasting HOT water for showers. Room also very clean. Also had a nice large balcony. Staff were very helpful and friendly, and the elevators were fast and immediate as soon as you walk in the lobby. The location is across the street from the beach and boardwalk at 1st street which is nice. NOTE: Crossing the street from the hotel is difficult because there is no light where traffic stops, and there is a lot of traffic there and dumb agressive drivers. The parking in the garage is tight but there is overflow parking for large vehicles like ours. I liked that it was bright and clean and close to the baordwalk and beach. I would stay there again. The TV was larger than most hotels, too. Thanks Gateway. We enjoyed our trip to O.C.! Crossing the street from hotel because there is not light there. Its difficult with crazy drivers and a lot of traffic.

Convenient to boardwalk, clean No complaints

The room was very clean and very close to the beach. I only gave 4 stars for the property maintenance because I didn’t like that no one had cleaned the pool when my daughter and I got in it the morning before we departed. Other than the pool, every thing was very well kept; they even had an entertainment room within the lobby and my kids enjoyed sitting in there a couple of times during our stay. The staff were very friendly as well.

property is a little dated but clean. The location is great because its close to the beach and boardwalk. The parking lot is sketchy with weeds all over and trash, it could of been better maintained and not very well lit

Great location one block away from the boardwalk and nice balcony. Hotel was in good shape, though the carpets in the room could use either a deep cleaning or a replacement. The beds only had a comforter and no top sheet, which we found odd. Spacious refrigerator in the room. It also has a small pool, which was helpful to us when the ocean wasn't usable because of large amount of jellyfish.

Overall we had a good stay. The room was decent . Nothing fancy but we didn't expect anything more . The staff was very friendly . The only thing I disliked was the pool. It was very small. It looked much bigger in the pictures than it actually is.

Tight parking

That being said, staff was very friendly, and the coffee was good. Hotel's pool was nice and poolside seats comfort. It was nice to only have to walk a block to get to the beach. This is a good choice if you're not very picky about sleep comfort.

The small (2 person max) semi-private 5th floor balcony was quaint. Large lobby was great for hanging out or meeting others. Hotel overall was very clean! Comfortable bed and pillows. Parking was tight but plentiful at time of our visit. Outdoor Pool and deck was very small. The room ac unit was a typical through wall design. AC unit did not have a continuous fan mode while in cooling, which I typically use as a sound dampening machine to muffle outside noises while sleeping. So it was either cooling mode (cycling on/off) or continuous fan mode.
