Catamaran Resort and Spa

The pros of this hotel were essentially its central location to all of the areas in San Diego we wanted to visit and its walkability to pacific beach restaurants and shops. (The area immediately around the hotel isn’t necessarily clean but it gets nicer as you go further north towards the PB pier.) The staff at the hotel were also friendly and we enjoyed walking the boardwalk along the bay side at night. Other than that, it was mostly cons. We requested a poolside room to avoid being in the Tower which we read had not been updated, however upon check in, they assigned a Tower room. It took 10 min for them to find another room which was right near the pool l, but the room was still gross and old. It reeked of mildew and, though the AC ran constantly, all of our clothes were damp and had to be hung out on the patio. The room and bathroom were never thoroughly clean (cobwebs by the floor, dirty surfaces, around the beds). Water pressure was good and hot. Concierge did loan out beach chairs we could leave the property with daily as long as we returned that day. On the last night the TV kept turning on by itself. The hallway was so dirty. The lobby had a strong smell due to the coy pond. The almost $50/day resort fee was explained to cover “free” WiFi and towels. The coffee shop was missing smoothies and açaí and other items daily. The guitarist they had one night playing next to the restaurant was great, but the other activities were mostly geared to young families.

Grounds were beautiful, no towels at pool, bedding wasn’t changed when cleaning people were done.

Definitely will be returning excellent place well maintained, beautiful yard ponds arcade included. Restaurant convinient!

Rooms are outdated. Very pricey additional resort fees charged. Rooms need upgrades vents very dirty and lamps not working,

We’ve stayed here before in a room with two beds that was more centrally located, but this time we were tucked away in the corner of the property. Since the hotel is pet-friendly, the entire area around our room smelled strongly of dog urine and feces. Unfortunately, there were also what appeared to be urine stains on the carpet inside the room, and the patio still had balloons and trash left behind from the previous guests. I do want to say that the front desk staff was incredibly kind and helpful, and I know some of these issues were outside of their control. For the price of staying here, I expected the rooms and outdoor areas to be better maintained. I also think the room photos should accurately reflect what guests will actually receive so expectations are set appropriately.

Location of resort is great! You get to experience the hustle and bustle of Pacific Beach along with serenity of Mission Bay. Staff was wonderful. Pool was perfect temperature. Sitting outside on the beach along Mission Bay during day or at night is so peaceful but you are also steps away from PB for shopping and restaurants and the more lively beach. Landscaping around hotel was beautiful and well maintained! A lot to do onsite and also a lot to see and do within a 15-30 minute car ride. Great place for a family vacation!

Catamaran Resort is a fantastic hotel to stay with families! Very walkable to restaurants and places. The bay is right there and the hotel provides umbrellas and chairs. I’d stay there again in the future. And oh, the ponds at the hotel, very zen and peaceful.

I was able to move rooms and had a great room overlooking the bay. That's where you want to be. The grounds felt like a tropical vacation. Beds were comfortable, and the location was great. I would stay again The thing I always hate is the hefty price to park your car. When you pay a hefty price for a hotel, it should be complimentary to self-park.

The room was very dated and out of date, not what I would expect of a 4* hotel. The pool was very small considering the size of the hotel and the number of guest that are able to stay. Overall you really don't get much for the money you pay per night at this hotel.

What a wonderful place to stay. Beautiful Koi pond with ducks and turtles. Lots of activities for kids that are included in your stay. Free arcade nice swimming pool beach rentals within walking distance (bikes, boards, chairs). Looking forward to coming back someday.

Made our wedding weekend perfect.

Overall, the room did not meet the standard we expected and felt like it had not been properly inspected or maintained. While the location and amenities may have potential, the condition of the room significantly affected our experience. I hope the hotel invests in better maintenance and quality control so future guests have a better stay.

Awesome place! Room was spacious and the overall facility was well kept. Good views of the bay and plenty of activities.

We’ve been here a few times before and honestly it’s time for the resort to upgrade. The furniture is dated and uncomfortable.

Also, the maid service was sub par. Tables not wiped down. Finally, a lot of extra fees with no extra benefits. The resort fee did not provide any additional benefit, the parking fee per day was very expensive.

The place was great and bay area wonderful

I liked the Hawaiian theme - the music, koi, plantings.

Great location. Rooms renovated but still a bit dated with poor lights and AC. Location makes up for it.
