Just think about it as a vibrant thoroughfare and once your ear tunes to the rattle of the charming vintage trollies, you will hardly hear them wt all. While the property is gated access and has overnight security, they are not overly obvious, nor will they glare suspiciously at motel guests, as at other unnamed places; It would be nice if inside room door blocks were installed. Also, I have found that some rooms have nonfunctioning safes and some refrigerators could be cooler. This is a great place to stay. The only reason I didn’t say 4.something, is their lack of pool and some complimentary something at breakfast. Maybe some nice muffins to cross-market with a local bakery? In general, an excellent choice for a not inexpensive, well located, clean and well updated motel; with helpful and lovely staff.

The hotel is adorable and super conveniently located. Staff is pleasant, beds are comfy, and parking is ample. A great place to stay if you want to be in SF for a couple days and not be downtown or out towards the airport. My only complaint is that the rooms are QUITE small and it was tough for our family of four to navigate. We could only open one suitcase at a time, and there wasn’t much room for us to put our things away. Also, the coffee maker is located in the bathroom, which was a bit off putting. All in all, a nice stay and would return, but perhaps without children.

There were a couple of tiny things that could have been different, but definitely weren’t deal-breakers. I travel with insulin, and the mini-fridge didn’t have a freezer compartment for me to refreeze my ice pack. If I’d asked at the front desk, they very well might have been able to store it in a freezer for me but, since I was only there for one night and my drive back home was only 4 hours, I didn’t ask. The AC only goes down to 69 degrees, and the city was a bit warmer than usual while I was there. I’m hyper-sensitive to heat, so it felt warm at first, but there was also an oscillating fan, so it ended up being okay. The bathroom mirror felt a bit far away for doing makeup so, if you’re near-sighted, having a small mirror with you is handy. Those are relatively small things that are easy to prepare for. The cleanliness & overall vibe of the place totally made it a 5-star stay!

Very clean and pleasant.

Recently renovated with clean linens, fresh bathroom and shower. Coffee maker in room refrigerator but no microwave. Conveniently located on Market Street in the Castro with reasonable rates and free parking. Street traffic contributes to noise, but each room has separate AC. No noisy gross window units! This lends to nice quiet sleep conditions. We have stayed there several times this year and plan to return love this place.

I loved this place. It’s clean and well maintained and close to everything and there’s parking. I highly recommend.
-
Becks has the little amenities that other hotels don’t. They have shelves in the shower, a flat cover sheet in the bed, daily cleaning (sometimes every other day), early check in if room is available ( they really make an effort to accommodate), a safe, and free guarded parking. It’s not a super fancy hotel but a very responsive hotel. They practice customer service.

It truly is the only place to stay for parking, location and value in the Castro area.

Our Mother-daughter trip to SF to look at colleges was perfectly positioned at Becks - we were in the middle of amazing neighborhoods, surrounded by kind community, and very comfortable in this impeccably maintained retro motel. Will visit again!
