You stay at this hotel for the location has a great coffee shop on the corner, which I love beautiful pastries that I would have every morning. It’s set up for European so the bedrooms are very tiny and small but they’re very clean and it’s a great location staff is very nice.

Cons: small, smelly, run-down rooms and hallways with poor ventilation; lack of basic room amenities, e.g. outlets for charging devices, black out curtains, etc.; thin walls - we could hear people opening and closing the doors, going up and down the stairs.

Beautiful and historic, this was a truly incredible experience. Worth every penny. It’s unique, I’ve never been to another hotel quite like this one. Awesome!

Great location. Walkable to the Golden Gate Park.

What a cute little hotel in an awesome area. Coffee shops, little stores, plenty to eat. So charming and would stay again for sure!

The rooms are very clean . The hotel is a great value for the area and San Francisco in general. close to other neighborhoods too . You get the amenities of home, and a quiet space for a fraction of what is asked elsewhere in SF. the Front desk staff and housekeeping set a high bar for other hotels .

We had a great stay in the family room that sleeps 6 people, really appreciated the free tea corner in the lobby and the (heated!) seats in the garden. Would definetly book again.

Tommy! The most terrific staff person! Ever! He was so kind. Helpful. Made a huge difference.

We stayed at many hotels on our California trip, and a couple things stood out about the Metro- it is bare bones as far as amenities go. There’s a restaurant next door and a nice bakery on the corner, but the hotel doesn’t offer much in the way of drinks or food. The website boasted a nice outdoor garden, but most of it was a little under construction when we stayed- we were a little disappointed. We did enjoy the heated outdoor furniture! We thought this hotel was a little expensive. We did have a wonderful time in the neighborhood & the hotel was super beautiful & safe.

Great stay. Lots of restaurants and bars in the neighborhood.

Excellent hotel.

Perfect location for exploring the city. Great staff!
-
Rooms are tiny, with no place to place anything down. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything, even across the hallway. Good location though.

Clean, comfortable room. Easy check in. Great location. Nothing.

Awesome stay in heart of SF. Local feel and cool staff. Loved the outdoor area too.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Metro Hotel. I picked it because it was close to the Castro Theater and the film festival I was attending, but I was also delighted to find that there were numerous restaurants of all kinds nearby and many shops, even a pet store across the street. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the room always clean. There is no elevator, however, so if you need one, this is not the place for you. This is a charming hotel that makes for a very pleasant stay.

The room was very clean, the location was great for us, the staff was friendly and helpful and the bed was very comfortable. The room needed some old and better lighting.

Loved the hotel vibe. Amazing artwork everywhere. Staff very friendly and helpful. Small rooms, but quaint. Great neighborhood with lots of good food and lovely houses/architecture. Parking is a challenge, but not so bad once you get used to the area and street rules. Highly recommended.

Great little hotel in a fabulous location. Easy walking distance to bars, cafes, public transport (& Haight-Ashbury!) Art throughout the hotel and Lindt balls in the foyer :) Stairs were challenging with luggage. No coffee in room (although there was a cafe next door)
