Casa Loma Hotel

European style hotel. Comfortable beds, clean modern bathroom. Not a lot of amenities, but perfect place lay your head after a long day of sight seeing.

The hotel was situated in a nice and safe neighborhood, so walking around the area felt safe and easy. I recommend this hotel for solo female travelers who's visiting San Francisco short-term.

Warm, not hot water in the shower. It was $100 room that was worth about $100.

Aside from the miserable staff, the room conditions were reminiscent of a half-way house you see in horror movies. Holes and scuffs on literally every surface and piece of furniture. Paper thin DIRTY sheets, different sizes and color HAIR in the bed and bathroom, stained bedding and carpet, the windows not opening, no AC, the fact that the toilet was virtually against the wall so you couldn't even sit on it, the list goes on and on! Be warned - we stayed for 3 nights and got the room "cleaned" once - which consisted of replacing the towels and fixing the top sheet but NOT changing it or washing ANYTHING in the room. They couldn't even be bothered to vacuum one single time. If you decide to give it a chance - I'd recommend brining your own sleeping bag, unless you don't mind sleeping in filthy stained sheets, covered in strangers pubic hairs. The photographs they have online are false advertising and misleading. So are the few good reviews on here (most likely AI bots). On the bright side - we didn't see roaches!

The property is old but clean. Because of the single pane windows, the street noise is loud. Location is good for getting around the city.

I’ve stayed here a couple times before, and I really liked this location. It’s in a nice convenient location nearby Lower Haight. It’s by good reliable public transport, walking distance from the muni trains. Very nice neighborhood, clean, no trash anywhere. It’s set up like a Euro hotel, but with options of private in room bathrooms. It’s affordable compared to most of SF. I always recommend this place to all of my friends now that none of us live around the Bay Area anymore. The staff was friendly, the room was nice and clean.

We were happy with our stay at the Casa Loma. We were only there to sleep so didn't spend much time there. They have a coffee machine in the lobby in the morning, that was good. There is a bus line going east and west nearby and one going north and south as well. Fell St was just outside our window and can be quite busy but did not bother our sleep. The bathroom was clean but the shower door was out of level so the door rolled open so had to stuff a towel in the roller to keep closed. Would have been nice to have a chair of some sort in the room. There was a refrigerator in the room but did not keep our water bottle cold. It was plugged in but could not find a switch or dial in it.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The free coffee very high quaility fresh brewed, The lack of maintenance in the room made it feel distinctly second class. The toilet paper dispenser broken from wall attachment. The bathroom sink very poorly caulked after it started falling off the wall. The window frame in the room was falling apart, the clothing rack had been pulled out of wall on one end, making only the far other side viable to hang clothing on. No bathmat and sink so small it was impossibel to wash my face without spilling alot of water on the floow. Bed comfortable, room clean. Hallway blocked by construction of new very crude wall, making the exit signs very inaccurate and dangerous in event of fire. It was the cheapest viable option, with others in that price range very poorly rated.

Such a great no frills place to stay.

Our experience was that the rooms didn't feel that clean, there was hair left in the bathrooms and an unpleasant smell in the hallways often. Also a note to future travelers, there's no A/C (we were aware of this, but just pointing it out) and if you leave your windows open for the cool air, the street noise can be very loud throughout the night. The staff were all helpful and polite.

Casa Loma is a small, European-style hotel in the Lower Haight district. It’s no-frills, but it’s clean, cozy, and the location is perfect for visiting everything San Francisco has to offer. The staff was friendly and helpful. Street parking is a challenge, but there are several larger parking garages nearby. I recommend taking an e-scooter from the hotel to explore the city. They’re fun and a great way to experience San Francisco. I would stay here again. Enjoy!

It was a really nice area to stay. Loved it had microwave and little refrigerator. It’s not a luxurious place, but it definitely works for on budget place to stay while visiting the city.

My room, especially bathroom door needed a deep clean. Lights above bed were disconnected so hard time reading in bed.

Overall, the hotel gets the job done at a fair price. It's not a luxury hotel but you don't pay luxury hotel prices.

Room was very small. No place to even put luggage except on the bed. Water pressure very low for shower making it hard to wash hair. Not what I was expecting at all.

The location was great. The hotel was exactly as depicted. There is REALLY GOOD free freshly-ground coffee in the lobby. The owner is EXTREMELY pleasant and helpful... just what most people want when staying at a hotel but rarely find. This is NOT something I didn't like... but just two things I noticed. 1) The room I had was small... not a problem for me as it was plenty of space for me, and there are larger rooms. 2) I was on the 4th floor. Again, NOT a problem for me because I can do stairs, but if you have mobility issues or need more space, just two things to know.

Friendly staff, fresh, clean rooms with comfy beds, blackout blinds, clean updated bathroom + handy minifridge for storing leftovers and breakfast fixings from the nearby BiRite. We were on the upper floor and the view out to the Oakland(?) hills was lovely, as well as ample afternoon sunlight. Location was great - near a cute little commercial strip with tasty local restaurants, a little park, nearby bus lines, fairly short walk to the Haight, reasonable (but not short) walk to the Mission. Would 100% stay here again. The door to the room was not plumb with the floor so there was a significant gap between the bottom of the door and the floor that was 2+ inches at its widest point. We put our bags in front of the door to block the light from the hall coming in. Also a bummer (but very common in old/locally run hotels): the walls are super thin. Everyone staying there was very respectful and quiet, but we could still hear an low-level early morning conversation a neighbor had on his phone. I think this is all par for the course with a budget hotel and to me, location, cleanliness, comfort and staff friendliness made up for minor inconveniences.
