We had an amazing stay there! Delicious food and drinks at the bar and food truck.

We had a room with a king size bed and a patio. It was a very nice big size. Room was great and very clean. Comfy bed. The only negatives were the property. We used the pool twice, and both times, on different days, the pool had definitely not been cleaned recently. There was stuff and hair floating in it, and it was the same situation the next day. Also, the grounds could be lovely, but they definitely need to spend more time and money on maintaining the landscaping. There's a lot of things that are dying or dead or need to be pruned. It could be so much more beautiful. Hower, these 2 things would not keep me from staying there again. It is a lovely historic place, but it could be even better.

Nice rooms. Courtyards were well maintained.

I’ve been coming here for decades. Property retains much of its historic charm. Love the hot tub and the 20th c ambience. New management has done away with the great breakfast. Room needed minor repairs. Also…orange indoor/outdoor carpet??!!

The property was retro-cool looking. I liked the skylight in the bathroom (once I figured out why I couldn't turn off the light, lol!). Didn't use the spa or pool but they were nice to have. People seemed to enjoy the food truck, including non-guests/locals, so parking after I returned from dinner with friends was much more difficult. The property was a decent size and I walked around to check it all out...lots of nooks and crannies to sit in (which made my room which jutted out into the parking lot rather disappointing). I enjoyed my cocktail at La Reina, although $$$. There seemed to be a lot of younger influencer types around which was a bit noisy but things did eventually quiet down. Maintenance-wise, there were some issues with a squeaky bed and most of the fixtures in the bathroom were leaking (the tub/shower which I hadn't used and couldn't seem to get to completely stop) or loose (one sink handle didn't have a "stop", so if you pushed all the was back it would turn off but then on again so it was a balancing act). Also, some of the tiles along the bathroom baseboards were missing/damaged. My door was a little finicky (it wasn't locked when I thought it was), but it had a deadbolt.

Such a cool place! The night time entertainment is the best! Will be back!

Clean, cute memorable Nothing to dislike

Close to my work , it was very different, but good. Historical vibe which was nice, cozy and quiet for the busy street it was off. I was expecting my own little cottage the photos looked like a separate cottage. The parking is narrow, my room door was propped open when I approached to open the door, which made me uneasy, but room was okay.

Vibes for days. We loved our king room with patio, the patio was not private, but that’s OK — even despite the incredibly squeaky door. I mean, who doesn’t have a can of WD-40 handy? The grounds are really photogenic and nice to walk around. The food truck always had decent food. The cocktail lounge is excellent with great service, although the average $17 for a cocktail seemed a little steep for that setting. The pool is a good size and we did not experience much in the way of crowds.

El Rey is a really beautiful property and the staff is wonderful and helpful. All the guests appeared relaxed too! It was wonderful they could accommodate our pet as well.

Renee is the only genuinely good thing about this place. She’s an angel, could not be more lovely, helpful and gracious if she tried. Wasted there! However, the same cannot be said for the so-called “supervisor”, who chose to be an obnoxious and vile little madam to myself when simply asking why we hadn’t be given the room we booked (as advertised, selected and paid for on booking.com), and a poor guy who dared ask about the pool closure. Seemingly she was “having a bad day”. We all get those, but some of us can still make the conscious choice to conduct ourselves in a calm, professional and mannerly fashion. Photos look great online but honestly, it’s massively overrated, dated, shabby and pretentious. Not worth the money or the hype. Supervisor is a disgrace, and badly needs a lesson in etiquette and put on a customer service training course. Perhaps meditation would prove beneficial also.

Such a cute place. Their programming is fun, their amenities are designed well for what they have. Can’t say enough about this place…the coolest place I’ve stayed in a while.
-
Cute aesthetic and entertainment if you need it. Nice clean pools. Nice clean rooms. Size of room was small for the cost.
-
Cute, clean, good location. Tv didn’t work, low water pressure
-
Cute hotel, with some room for improvement. The rooms were pretty dated and fixtures could use some updating. They advertised coffee in the lobby in the morning but both days it was empty.
-
Friendly staff, old charm property and comfortable rooms. Request rooms away from main street if you like a quieter stay

The pool and spa area were lovely, but occasionally there were leaves floating in the water. A quick skim from time to time would make the experience even better. At the restaurant, the food was excellent, but there were a few inconsistencies. We ordered the same cheeseburger twice on different occasions and received slightly different versions each time, which caused some confusion about what was included.

The room was beautifully re-done. Wonderful bed and nice bathroom. The water pressure in the shower could have been better, but overall the room was great. The hot tub was very dirty when I arrived. After telling the staff it was much cleaner the next day. The pool was clean and beautiful.

Great stay. Comfortable, spacious rooms. Easy parking. Convenient location. Helpful and polite staff.
