Mountain Lake Inn

Our room was not as clean as it could have been and I prefer. The toilet seat kept moving around and we couldn't tighten it. We could only get warm water out of the bathroom sink, not hot. I had to run the hot water in the shower for a very LONG time to get it hot enough to take a shower. Then, despite the shower curtain, the bathroom floor got drenched! I tried to move the shower head to point toward the shower wall, but it wouldn't move. SO, this hotel had many features and amenities that worked for us, but I can't highly recommend it. It was quite reasonably priced, and I guess you get what you pay for, but with some fixes, it could be a lot better.

The staff was very friendly. All in all a very enjoyable stay in a wonderful scenic location. Thanks a lot !

Room was okay, but we had no shower curtain in our bathroom. The pool was closed and the whole place just seemed a bit run down. Continental breakfast was very limited.

HVAC was challenging but this is a shoulder season needing both cooling and heat which no one does well

The carpet was wet when we came in and walking around in our socks, got them very dirty. The towels were like sandpaper. The stairwells were dirty and housekeeping was nonexistent.

Rooms were clear and staff helpful. Outside of the building and grounds drastically need updating and repair.

The pool was absolutely freezing. Very small shallow pool. Beds, you could feel every spring. Pillows were soooo flat. The hotel was not very clean. Breakfast was terrible and such a small selection of food. Coffee was out, yogurt was out and juice was out. No fruit but apples and rotten clementines.

Much improved over our stay two years ago when it was a Best Western!

The room was clean but the carpet was soaking wet. The pool was freezing cold and there were active anthills in the seams of the flooring. Staff was pleasant and accommodating but there is no hotel employee on duty overnight. If you need help you must access it through a screen and speak to someone at a remote location. I'd give it a C, but I think it was probably the best around. It's a very depressed area. The staff was kind and responsive.

Breakfast is included but too many people touching food without tongs, there weren’t not enough serving utensils like tongs, spoons. Property is clean but they do not disclose that this property doesn’t have elevators, so you gotta carry your hiking gear back & forth.. we have to go multiple times carrying bags & other sports gears. Overall a decent stay, we booked last minute because there was an issue with our other Airbnb property.. it was ok for a couple of days. Getting wi-fi password was another whole story but the good part is - they figured it out. A decent place with some challenges. Thank you!

The staff was very nice and accommodating. The room was very damp. The floor was wet and the room just seemed damp. There was the Sam reaction from family members staying in different rooms on the first floor

The location was nice but overall the property was rundown and dirty. The cleanliness was really really bad. Also our carpet was wet almost like the cement floor below it was weeping water.

The beds were comfortable, and the bedding was clean. There were enough towels and washcloths for the three of us. The breakfast was OK. They did have a waffle maker there, but I did not use it. The indoor pool is not heated so it was cold. Some of the doors were rusty. The carpets definitely need an updating.. The staff was helpful. it was OK for the money paid.

The room itself was very nice, quiet, and comfortable, with excellent Wi‑Fi and a great bed. However, the hotel’s cleanliness was disappointing. The side entrance was extremely dirty, the overall property felt poorly maintained, and the breakfast experience was very unpleasant. A mix of positives and negatives, but cleanliness needs major improvement.

First night when I pulled back the blanket, etc. the fitted sheet was clumped up in the middle with some crumbs, a distinctive stain, and a small foil candy wrapper. I slept on the top sheet & complained next morning I wanted it changed. Next night it was obviously not changed but straightened out, crumbs apparently whisked off with the candy foil wrapper now on the floor & the distinctive stain still there in the same place. Wrapper was there the entire 3 nite stay! Bathroom was clean & nice with clean towels. Lobby not bright or welcoming but comfortable chairs, hall & room carpeting worn & stained in many places & again drab, curtains in the room dark & heavy & unable to move aside for sunlight. No USB ports. The breakfast was typical continental but there was a waffle machine, never any orange juice & breakfast room wasn’t attractive with old looking furniture. Had to go to desk to ask certain items be replenished, no one cleaned off the tables as people left. Wasn't expecting a high-end room for the price but the facility definitely needs upgrading & some cheery redecorating. Feel rating misleading so expected better. Not a place I'd recommend to others or return to.

House keeper did not replace the bedsheet , only towels were replaced.

This place was reasonably clean and the location was good, but the place really needs some maintenance and upgrades. Also, there are no Ev chargers on site, but are some very near by.

Spent 4 nights here, was perfect for our home base for sightseeing and hiking in The High Peaks. Just what you'd want in a 2 star privately owned inexpensive place to lay your head. Would stay again.
