Doubletree Hotel South Bend

Good downtown spot.

Helpful staff. Hotel room keycard continues to not work at the parking garage which created a minor disruption but was corrected promptly.

I specifically wanted the use of a hot tub which they claimes to have. The hot tub was filled in with fake grass on top. If it wasn't Expedia booked, I'd ask for my money back. Expedia has too much red tape making it very difficult to get a refund.

A/C in common areas was awful. Rooms thankfully cool. Parking stinks: garage too low and oversized parking severely limited. Most staff friendly and helpful. Bar, Starbucks and restaurant nice to have within the hotel.

We arrived very late, 2am and got late check out so didn't use many amenities. Property was lovely, staff helpful. Cleaning crew was VERY LOUD in the morning doing other rooms. Since we had late checkout & privacy tag on tour, that was bothersome.

No clean floor or other surface. Just received fresh towels for the day. On day directly talk head of housekeeping. They were to take care of it right way. That was 9am. By 3pm still no service. Later the beds were change and fresh. But not floors and surfaces. Dust and grime still covered everything.

Overall the hotel has helpful front desk staff and very convenient parking. However, the room cleanliness is really below the usual standard of DoubleTree (e.g. small pieces of trash on the bathroom floor and stains on the beddings can be easily spotted…).

I can up load pictures so hotel only had running air conditioning in some rooms. The rooms weren’t all clean by 430 afternoon. Felt like a furnace , than I was billed twice for my room. Which I was told my problem by David. My bank stated it would be another charge. Either way I paid twice. I normally stay next door at the Courtyard. Never any issues . Between bad service, management being rude, I was not loud at no point Even waited to the side so no one would here the issue. The only help was guest service Charles. He was helping everyone running up and down floor changing room because they were unclean and no air. Floor felt like you moved in with the Devil because air went down. The room had food boxes not clean out, microwave haven’t been clean, floor weren’t clean and fridge wasn’t clean. I thank Charles for trying but in the end I would not suggest this hotel at all. Go next door.

The beds were nice staff were great The front and back door were broken and I had to walk completely around the building with all my luggage! Also the reason I booked was because of the hot tub (injured back) but everything was closed!

Shocked! Really nice room. BUT…lobby under construction, pool out of order, bathroom off the restaurant…out of order, 3 night stay…NO housekeeping, trash piled up, no fresh towels, no coffee, no shower gel, 1 bar/sliver of soap…returned to room 11pm each night following reunion events…went to front desk…no housekeeping at that hour. Took 40 min (after midnite) for a maintenance man to bring pool towels, but no coffee, no soap. I returned to the reception desk after midnite in PJs…at least give me coffee for the morning. Felt like a beggar!! AND…went to front are Silver Level Reward Members. Terrible terrible stay. Such a shame because it was a really nice king room. Perhaps they are short staffed, but when it’s Reunion Weekend…isn’t there something you can do? 3 days? No housekeeping ? In our way to reunion the last day, we: Took our trash to an outside bin. Bought coffee at McDonalds. Bought soap at CVS. Just couldn’t trust that the night receptionist could get a housekeeper to our room before our 11pm return.
