Staff very friendly

Great sized room, modern, clean and very comfortable beds. Bed linens and towels were clean and fresh. We enjoyed our room.

Stayed for one night on a family road trip. There weren't any conventions or activities going on while we stayed, and the place was quiet. Everything was maintained and the on-site coffee bistro was convenient with a good selection.

Beautiful hotel

Great hotel. Hidden gem! Rooms big and modern and hotel clean and friendly.

For the rates charged during special weekends, the hotel should at least provide courtesy coffee supplies and two bottles of water in each room. We also received inaccurate information from the front desk regarding transportation. We were told a shuttle service, separate to the hotel, began operating four hours before a Penn State football game, when in reality it starts only three hours before kickoff. No one mentioned that the hotel shuttle could take guests directly to the tailgate parking area, which we ended up figuring this out by luck after waiting 45 minutes. The game-day shuttle costs $20 for round-trip service, although it seemed like returning after the game might be challenging due to demand. We chose to walk to dinner and take an Uber back later that evening. Another issue arose when we went to purchase coffee and charge it to our room. The employee who checked us in had not properly activated room-charging privileges, so we had to pay with a credit card instead.

The Penn Stater is an excellent hotel, close to everything at Penn State and downtown. It is pet-friendly with designated rooms and a nice place to walk your pet. Legends Pub is great for dinner and the night we stayed we played music bingo. The Gardens restaurant has a great breakfast and a buffet too. We also enjoyed the indoor pool and fitness center. Highly recommend the Penn Stater!

This is a great property with alot of amenities and is easy to get to the PSU campus. We have stayed here a couple of times and will continue to stay when we visit PSU. Thank you for a great stay each time! The Sunday brunch is AMAZING!

You can hear a lot through doors and rooms and the restaurant was not great. My salad was very brown and disgusting. When I said something the guy just walked away.

Thanks to excellent help from both Expedia and the Penn Stater hotel we had an excellent stay. I booked our room at the Penn Stater well in advance. However, I inadvertently made a scheduling error, which I didn’t realize until we arrived a day earlier than our booking. Although it was a Penn Stater football weekend, the hotel found a room for us and the Expedia rep was able to link that to our Expedia reservation so that we were able to stay in the same room both nights - attending a meeting of the Penn State President’s Club the first night and attending the football game on the second night, checking out the morning after the game. We of course paid a higher rate for the game night, but the football weekend was salvaged thanks to everyone’s help and cooperation! Thank you

The free transport van was very helpful

I like to be honest when I write reviews so I can help others since I depend heavily on reviews. We moved rooms twice. Why? Bed bugs in the first room #529 and super loud kids next door at past 11pm. Thankfully that noise prompted me to ask for a change of rooms but I reported beinf bitten and when they checked, there were bugs in a patch on the bed 😡. Second room, 545 the AC was making a funny sound so maintenance came up thank God they did because we were telling him we had issues in our first room and so we pulled the cover and booooom a life spider on the pillow! Scary, then the AC completely went out, stopped working. He felt so bad so asked us to wait so they could properly inspect the last room before sending us in. Room 591 smelt different once we walked in so I knew it was likely ok. This was around 1:30am or slightly later. I reported all this to the manager who was very apologetic, allowed us a few extra hours to sleep in and gave us dinner vouchers for that stay and also half off our room. Since I was not looking for a freebie, I accepted and she reassured me that they would sort out those rooms and to return when in the area. Now to the bar, we got the steak and blue cheese burger and veggie soup of the day. The food was so good I had to send a message to the chef! I don't like vegetables but I finished the green beens! It was grilled to perfection! The food had the right amount of seasoning, generous with the portions. Lovely chef Jason Scott came over to say

Great spot to stay for a game. Food is ok at the restaurant, not really a pub.
