Ramada Tropics Resort & Conf Center by Wyndham Des Moines

I've stayed here plenty of times and always had a great experience. Stayed there last night and in our room we kept hearing something but couldn't for the life of us figure it out. Well in the morning we heard it again. Went to get up and a FREAKING MOUSE ran across the floor.

Quiet room.

We’ll still continue to make trips here but would love to see some renovations to the great pool areas. The kids love going here! Breakfast was good nothing special. Waffles were made for us. Yogurt, fruit. No meat of any kind though. Pizza & chicken restaurant on site is good. One of the best pizzas I’ve had in a long time. Room was clean, our TV worked but the family with us next door couldn’t get theirs to show any channels. Needs updating to smart TVs. My two complaints - he blinds beside the doors facing pool. Get blackout curtains!! Or bring your own because the pool lights never go out & the blinds are old & let lots of light in. And we had to evacuate the hotel at 9:30 at night for fire alarms. We had NO one from staff come check on any of us out the back doors. Eventually we all just went back in after the alarms went off. No clue what happened, but an employee told my son it happens frequently.

the kids really enjoyed the pool area we had three rooms, none of the bathroom doors shut properly or at all none of the toilets were secured to the floor, one we could not use at all as it was leaking and then got turned off the shower you cannot fully use as half the pressure ran out of the bottom spout there were holes in the carpet and paint coming off the walls the hotel smelled like drugs only one room had a phone

Facilities and rooms are dirty and super oudated. Carpet is stained, rust around rooms, mold or some kind of bacteria groing on the furniture. Several different people smoking around the property making the place smell awful

The condition of facilities are slowly deteriorating. Worn out carpet and chairs throughout the property. We did not have enough pillow for all the guests in our suite and the front desk didn’t have any to give us. The ran out of the large towels so we had to use small ones to dry off. Positively, everything in the pool are washed operating and the water was great. I do think k the Tiki bar being closed is losing you a lot of money… I want to love this place, rooms are huge, pool is awesome, restaurant has a great build out, but it really needs an operator who is focused on the guest experience and not on pinching every penny.

Overall, the I would suggest anyone to stay at the Ramada. It’s a really fun hotel. Staff at main desk and restaurant were very helpful and there was great service. The water park is super fun, but it got packed quickly on a Saturday evening. Food from restaurant wasn’t bad and we really appreciated how easy it was to order food right on the premises of the hotel. I really hope that next time we stay, it a little more updated. Cleanliness wasn’t an issue, just needs many updates. The baseboard trim in our room was shredding, water pipes are rusting, and it looks like all the windows could use a good clean. But it was a very fun place to stay with kids.

The pool area was fun for the kids. I had to slam my door like it owed me money just to get it to close all the way. I'm guessing the humid from the pool was causing the door to expand. The breakfast was probably the worst hotel breakfast I've ever seen. Better off just not offering it. Have the hotel manager stay at hotels in the surrounding area that offer breakfast and compare his hotel breakfast to theirs.

We had to wait over an hour to get our room. The pool area was air conditioner was broke. Carpet was dirty. They closed the big slide Thursday morning, so my grandson couldn’t use it and that’s why we stayed there. I would not recommend this motel to anyone.

Had to wait at registration so the host could finish her cigarette out front. At least 5 minutes. Because of the pool, our room was sticky, rusty and dirty ceilings. Sink and toilets were both loose.

We stayed there 3 years ago and this property has taken a complete nose dive. It is disgustingly filthy. Couldn’t wait to get a refund and run…..by alll means ask me for pictures

Staff was very welcoming the hotel was clean Well like 20 minutes after we was there the fire alarm went off and had to wait outside for almost 30 min

Property is dying for a renovation. Despite some reviews this is not a family friendly location.

Rooms need freshening up. Waterpark hot tub not very hot and jets are weak. Waterpark closes at 9 pm

The waterpark was nice The room had mold on the bed skirt. It was ridiculously humid. Only fans going no dehumidifiers or anything. Everything felt damp in the room from all the humidity.

Run down, poorly maintained, dirty, wet carpet from ac unit

Fun water park sucked tiki bar closed. Just kind had a ghetto feel. The pool had way way way too much chlorine. Rooms nice. Great restaurant.
