Extended Stay America Suites - Norfolk - Virginia Beach

My husband ended up in the hospital the night before traveling. I reached out to let them know we'd be late getting in. After 2 phone calls and a message were left, they still gave away our room and canceled our booking.

Stove broken. Unsanitary. Roaches by the stove and refrigerator. Microwave burnt inside. Staff unfriendly.

My nephew asked, "Which toilet are we supposed to use?" She replied, "You can use the restroom in the lobby." Very disappointing experience.

I am writing this review to warn all future travelers about the severe lack of professionalism and ethics at this property. We made a confirmed reservation well in advance through Expedia. However, when we arrived at the property at 11:00 PM after a long journey, we were shocked to find out that they had resold our room to someone else. The staff showed absolutely no empathy, accountability, or willingness to help us find an alternative solution. They simply did not care that they were leaving us completely stranded in the street late at night in an unfamiliar place. It is deeply irresponsible and dangerous for a hospitality business to treat paying customers this way. A confirmed booking should be a guarantee, but this place clearly prioritizes quick profit over customer safety and basic respect. Do not risk your trip or your safety by booking here. If you want a reliable place that actually honors their reservations and won't leave you out in the cold at midnight, look elsewhere. Completely unreliable, unprofessional, and unsafe. Avoid at all costs!

NOTHING I didn’t stay at this location. Was told that the ac went out and they could offer me a fan or the GM would cancel the reservation at not charge. I canceled with booking.com in the lobby and showed the clerk. Looked at my account and I was still charged. I still haven’t received My money back.

The employees The toilet that ran water for 2 days and wouldn't let the tank fill so it also wouldn't flush

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful when we needed any assistance. It is a good place to stay if you are on a tight budget. Neighbors were quiet and it seemed pretty safe. I did use the laundry room, and it was clean and good order which was nice. Overall, we were happy with our stay, it definitely is not a 5star place, but it is a good budget option.

The unit was nice. It needed some updating and the furniture was old.

When I got there at 9PM, I was told that there wasn't any available rooms & that Expedia overbooked them. Instead of helping or guiding me on how to find a place so late in the day or even show any sort of sympathy to the situation, the staff told me to call expedia and then walked away.. Expedia customer service was great but the staff at this hotel was useless.

Nothing Everything, except for the location ?

Price, location, convenience. Moldy air vents. Dog urine in hallways. Smoke detector kept beeping like the battery was dead/dying. Breakfast was a pathetic find. Nobody expects instant oatmeal and instant grits as food options. And who in their right mind only offers light roast coffee?! That was dumb.

Everyone was nice and there wasn’t any trouble. It was quite at night which was good. If you need a place for one night without any options you can stay. But more than that I would not book

people at the front desk were nice enough. The room? Never again - filthy, no lamps, no nothing - guess I should have known in the word "extended," so my screw up but didn't think that meant literal nothing. Don't book a room intended for long stays for a short 3 day stay.
