Riggs Washington DC

The Riggs was a big disappointment. Cool idea: old bank building. Good location. Staff welcoming. Even got a room upgrade thanks to Expedia. But my room was grim. Dark wallpaper that showed dirt flecks, scarred furniture, dusty rugs and headboard. It looked like no one had dusted. There was no turn down service. An odd contrast for a place with very nice shampoo and products. The shower was nice. The Riggs Cafe is funky. They treated me to an iced tea while I waited for my room (I was early). But my breakfast toast was cold and over-toasted. Bottom line nice staff. Fun idea. But a 2.5-3 star hotel charging 4-5 star prices.

Dining room was freezing which ruined the meal, so we quit eating there. Hidden expensive nightly” charges we were not told about until we checked in. I doubt I would ever stay again.

Extremely close to the metro system

The Riggs is my preferred stay when in DC; however, it is showing wear and tear, and prime for an overall refresh

Not a true 5 star hotel. Rooms were already worn. Furniture missing knobs. Hallways already feel like they need updating. If looking for luxury, look elsewhere

The rooms are a bit on the cozy side, but in a building this gorgeous, I’m willing to call it “historic charm” rather than “limited square footage.” Beautiful hotel, wonderful people, great food, and the kind of hospitality that makes you want to come back. We definitely will! *Beware of the extra fee that you have to pay if you book your stay not directly with the hotel.

This is a nice hotel, but it needs an uplift. Staff were great. Location is excellent.

Very cool and uniquely decorated rooms. Great bar and drinks. Love the old bank theme. Stayed here for our anniversary and they had some nice complimentary desert. Would gladly come back

The stay started on a disappointing note. I arrived around 3:30 p.m., understanding that official check-in was at 4:00 p.m. However, well after 4:00, my room was still not ready, and there seemed to be very little communication between housekeeping and the front desk regarding when it would become available. I ultimately had to inquire three separate times before the situation was resolved. While waiting, I was directed to the hotel’s cocktail area, where I had two drinks. Given the extended wait, I do think offering to cover a cocktail would have been a nice service-recovery gesture. That said, I want to give the team credit for how they ultimately handled the situation. I was upgraded to a suite and welcomed with a glass of champagne, which was very much appreciated and certainly helped turn around the start of the stay. From that point forward, the overall experience was good. The hotel itself is beautiful, stylish, and well located, and I enjoyed my accommodations. However, for me, the service didn’t quite reach the level that would make the stay truly memorable or exceptional. With so many excellent hotels in Washington, DC at a variety of price points, I’m not certain that I would choose Riggs again. I enjoyed my stay overall and appreciated the upgrade, but I would likely explore some of the other luxury and boutique opti

Property and lovely staff! Would definitely stay here again. Small exception- bathroom is small so movement can be tight. Nothing that will deter us from staying here again.
