We are seniors. The stairs were tricky due to the uneven treads. There is an old fashion elevator to use. The bedroom was ok but the bathroom didn’t have anyplace to set things down and the step up was challenging for me. All in all if you like old and appreciate the funky amenities you will like this. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The best thing I can say about this property is its location. It was in the center of Winter Park, very close to the Morse Museum which we came to Winter Park to see, and close to many restaurants and shops. it is a beautiful small town. The mattress was not comfortable. There was an air conditioner right above the bed which blew very cold air down on you, plus there was a light on the air conditioner that could not be turned off unless you turned the whole unit off. Since it was August, that was not an option. The bathroom was tiny. When I sat on the toilet, my knees were underneath the sink!!! The showerhead was old and not very good. The couch and chairs in the living area were old and uncomfortable.

Very good

Over all it was bad... filthy conditions. The lack of soundproofing had the hotel supplying ear plugs right next to the bottles if wine. No major news channels in their cable offerings.
-
Staff was great and so friendly and accommodating!

If you are a light sleeper, you may notice the sounds of a train, here and there, since the track is close to the hotel.

Location Soft mattresses. Very uncomfortable.

In terms of amenities, because of the hotel's age, the bathrooms are small and basic, the effects of Florida weather are evident on wooden doorways to the outside and in the closet, and things like a small fridge and coffee maker in the room are not available. The amazing staff offered to bring me coffee from downstairs, but I prefer to do my own thing before I am ready to face the world. The cleaners did a great job, but my ac unit (which was initially great) started to leak the last afternoon. So, I am hoping that the owners of the property can slowly go through and do some preservation efforts on things that are showing their age.

Location can’t be beat! Walk to everything in Winter Park. Bed comfy and room clean. Bathroom a little small, paint peeling off tile.

We arrived and the lights were not working, had to use our phones to get around the room. The entire night we heard drops and it turned out that the wall a/c unit was licking. Then we saw that the entire wall had moistures that been there a while. The balcony had no privacy from our neighbors and the shutters would not properly close to provide privacy. Overall horrible experience for the money we paid.

Location was great. The historic aspects of the hotel were very cool. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The street noise and trains were not an issue. It was very quiet at night.

I understand the hotel is historic and that’s part of the reason we chose this property but like others have said it’s dirty and in need of deep clean/ Refresh. We booked for 2 nights and left after the first. Reception didn’t seem that surprised when we told them the reasons we were leaving & they never offered us any refund (which I understand when the booking is not refundable) however when it’s down to the state of the place it shouldn’t be the case. I wish I’d read the reviews on here before booking. We paid for a balcony however be aware the balcony is one long balcony that runs past every upper room so no privacy as shared with everyone else and is generally not well kept! The room is quirky nothing level etc and old fashioned which I like but the fact that it’s dirty and the bedding marked / dirty is inexcusable. Windows dirty inside and out Cobwebs on walls Shutters that don’t stay shut General maintenance - just laziness could be such a wonderful place.
