Coast Inn at Lake Hood
About Coast Inn at Lake Hood
Coast Inn at Lake Hood, is a short walk away to watch float planes take on and off from one of the busiest seaplane bases in the world. In the winter the frozen lake serves as a frozen runway for planes with skis. Befitting to its location the hotel is decorated in Alaska Bush Pilot memorabilia and historic photography that the Alaska Aviation Museum next door shares with them. Each guest room is carefully cared for by our veteran housekeeping team, most of which have been with us 5 years and some up to 20 years. Each room has everything you need like Keurig Coffee machines with locally owned Caffé D'arte Alaska coffee, to in-room microwave and mini-refrigerator. If you have forgotten something, our front desk probably has it. We keep a fresh supply of basic toiletries available for you. Dine-in at locally owned and operated for 30 plus years, Pipers Restaurant and Lounge, or order room service. We have monthly specials that coincide with the season, Alaskan local favorites, and traditional native food. In the summer the deck is open and overlooks Lake Hood, where you can watch the planes land and take off right in front of you. The hotel has everything you need; from the fitness center, laundry machines, complimentary wi-fi, over 6,000 square feet of meeting space, computer stations for printing boarding passes, and the most needed on-demand courtesy airport shuttle available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, no reservation required. If you need to park and fly out, our partner Alaska Park is next door ready to serve you, and is who handles our courtesy shuttle.

Breakfast was expensive, the gym was broke down, and the room ac unit smelled moldy.
-
AC unit smelled moldy. Breakfast was expensive, and the gym machine was faulty. For expensive as the stay was it should’ve been better.
-
Great place to stay. Staff was always helpful. Rooms were comfortable. Really good price compared to other properties.
-
Close to airport, good for short overnight stay
-
Nice hotel, but for a one night stay—- not worth the extra money.
-
Nice shuttle service Cleaning requires multiple prompting. Room is very average for the price
-
The hotel requires a major renovation. The room carpet so worn out, that it's hard to say if it's clean or not. It may be clean, but it doesn't look like it. Same with the bathroom. The bathroom fan is making sound like a heavy plane. The rooms are non-smoking, and smell like old smoke and mist. Probably from the lack of ventilation. If you have heavy luggage or mobility issues keep in mind that there are no elevator.
-
Nothing When you opened our curtains the was another building 2ft away
-
Nice that the restaurant is right there. They need an elevator- badly.
-
Location to airport and breakfast was very good The property is very dated and value for money is disappointing
-
Location relative to airport good Front desk staff not very friendly or accommodating. They didn’t offer any of the options available. I.e. breakfast, local attractions, shuttle service, etc. if you wanted to know something you had to ask. I guess they were too busy.
-
An okay property for the one night we needed a place to sleep. I like that they have 24 hour check in.
-
We appreciated the clean, well sized room and the restaurant, Pipers.

We tried to check in at 1pm and were told by the Alaskan Native lady that no check ins until 1:30. The next morning when I was checking out at 10am she let a couple check in. Hotel was ok. Remodeled but floor wasn’t level and not very clean. Bed was comfy though.
-
Conveniently located. Lake view. No elevator so needed to drag my suitcases on a stairway.
-
No elevator and we were on the second floor. Much older building in need of updating.
-
Food and service was good in Pipers restaurant too. We only stayed 2 nights but it met our needs for that basis. Limited drink making facilities in the room - (coffee only and powdered milk sachets), no bottled water - no fridge - small towels.

Location to airport; restaurant
-
Great price, close to airport and car parking!
