Howard Johnson by Wyndham Athens

The swimming pool was badly maintained, was not usable, had dirty stagnant water. There was no gym or fitness centre. It was not a value for money option.

Nothing The staff

Room was dirty. Mold in bathroom vents. Walls in room and bathroom and hanging wall art stained. Headboards on bed stained. Soap dispenser in bathroom coming unscrewed from wall. Tub floor and walls dirty and soap dispensers in showers dirty. Arrived to find out what was booked was one bed but by receipt clearly said two. Room keys didn’t work had to go back to get that fixed. Property hallway propped open with rock instead of being closed for safety. Hallways smelled like weed even though I ordered a smoke free room. When I went to get breakfast during my checkout I was told to put everything back. Pool not clean and not open. Loud voices and music during late hours of the night. Avoid if all possible.

Ok property, staff excellent.

I didn’t use the complementary breakfast, but it looked nice. Not hot food. Room was clean but lack the chair to sit in. Bed was comfortable.

I expected a lot better for the price. The property was rundown and smelled strongly, and there was mold in the bathroom.

For breakfast there is yogurt, cereal, juice, bananas, muffins, and cereal. I checked in at night from an outside window. The system was down so he invited me inside to wait for it to come back up. Staff is kind. The lady is rough, she says she’s has to follow the rules. She had to kick us out because there were 3 people in our room instead of 2. She made me take food out my pocket and put it back bc the rule says no food leaves the kitchen. When you walk in, the room smells like mold. This gives you a feeling that everything is dirty even if it’s not- it was not dirty. The bed was comfortable- but we slept on our extra clothes bc we weren’t sure if bedding was clean. We had to open the door bc of the smell. The bathroom looked clean but no one wanted to shower bc we thought that’s where the mold smell was coming from. We cancelled our 2nd night stay and got someplace else - even bf we got kicked out.

Nothing...place was dirty. Room was dirty. Curtains were halfway hanging up shower nozzle was broken. Facilities were bad the pool was filthy no chairs on decks outside room or around pool. The other room we had the beds were not made up or room serviced.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. I'll look to that Hojo location in the future if I'm ever in need again.

Standard budget roadside chain property with bonus of small pool. Located on main road into Athens from Highway 78. Room decor was a little worn, definitely not the same standard as shown in property description on Booking.com. Breakfast was a very minimal affair taken in front lobby.
