There is no lift or elevator so it is hard to get heavy items such as a cooler or a suitcase up to stairs. The only other thing is parking spaces are very small and hard to get in and out of but overall I enjoyed my stay.

We were overcharged on our credit card big time for our stay. I tried calling the inn several times to dispute the overcharge but was unable to to to a human. Very dissatisfied.

Very cozy feeling with the staff and the guy at the front desk when we checked in was wonderful. Walked around and showed us where everything was housed in the Inn. Yummy hot apple pie a la mode every night from 7-8pm. Great breakfast (included) on the top balcony (which is a great space). Rode the bikes they had (maybe grease the chains a bit...:). Used the beach chairs and towels down at the beach. Cheat sheet of places to eat as well. Very easy to get info. This was my first time at Avila Beach and am so glad I stayed at this Inn. Thank you!

The Inn at Avila is a wonderful find and we had a great time for a ladies get together weekend. The hotel is older with some very manageable quirks, which the amenities more than make up for. The sun deck on the roof is a perfect place to spend time any time of the day or evening (until it closes at 9 pm), and they serve a great breakfast with fantastic coffee up there every morning. The evening pie and ice cream at 7 pm is also a must. The staff is very helpful. The location can't be beat, right across the small parking lot/street from the beach, and a very short walk to the shops and restaurants. The only downside is parking, be aware they allow only one parking spot per room, and their lot is a little tight. Parking eases up after 8 pm so a second car is manageable if not ideal. We had a great weekend together and will definitely be back!

Lobed the spa in the room and the always avilable ice cream sandwiches. Quick access to the beach with chairs and chairs available.

Hotel needs updates badly. There was no heat and at night it was chilly there’s only a little thin blanket on the bed. The breakfast was nice and view is great. Shower was bizarre and complicated.

The absolute best views, amazing rooms, delicious breakfast and made to order specialty coffee and the helpfulness and kindness of the manager, Alton is the cherry on top. Everyone who works here is courteous. We will be back!

    Great place for families

They have a grea breakfast in the morning and between 7 - 8 PM have pie and ice cream which was great and free. The pies were fresh and great - not a store pie.

I was born and raised in Nipomo and came back for a family reunion. We spent our first two nights at Quality Suites in San Luis Obispo for about $500 total. It was clean, spacious, included a separate living room, heated pool, hot tub, free breakfast, free happy hour, and was just a 10-minute walk to downtown. Then we spent two nights at Inn at Avila for $1,300, and it was a huge disappointment. The room was noisy all night from people above us and in the courtyard, and every toilet flush sounded like a tidal wave. There was bubbling paint and black mold throughout the property (see photos). The furniture was old and chipped, the TV was tiny, there were no USB outlets, the toilet seat was damaged, and the room felt extremely outdated. The beach cruisers were rusted and barely usable. The only positives were the location, the morning coffee and croissants, and the breakfast staff. It’s shocking that so little has been invested in maintaining this property. We paid $700 more than we did in SLO and deeply regret it. Avila is only a 15-minute Uber from SLO, making this stay even harder to justify. I cannot recommend this hotel and will also be sharing my experience with the booking agency so other travelers can make an informed decision.

Breakfast was great. Lotion in the bathroom was empty. Body wash pump in the bathroom was broken. No hand soap in the bathroom.

    Amazing stay!! Great service!!!

We had a very spacious room and loved the Spanish style decor. The rooftop coffee bar and pastries were a nice addition to our stay and was complimentary. They had ice cream and pie in the evening, also complementary. We had to contact staff about water leaking from the ceiling in the bathroom. The guests above us let the kids flood out the floor with the whirlpool bath. It was handled swiftly by staff and management was at my door within a couple of minutes to remedy the problem. They called later to apologize and ask if we needed a different room. We didn’t need another room but very impressed with the timeliness of the situation by staff and management. Would definitely stay here again.

Such a great location, right on the ocean! Super cute and cozy rooms with robes, towels for the beach and warm pie each evening on the rooftop! The rooftop breakfast is also delicious and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Love this place!

It was an awesome experience. Our room was gorgeous and the easy access to the beach was a plus, coffee and breakfast was great and coffee and pie was amazing.

We've been coming here for years. Quirky and unique place right across from the beach. A room with a balcony is worth it. Pretty expensive this time though and there were some drawbacks: parking was difficult so we didn't move our car; hot water was slow or nonexistent; no more gas grill on the roof; no popcorn or treats like usual. Pies used to be left out but not this time. Rooms are not cleaned during visit. The value of this place is its proximity to the beach. Our room was well furnished with a huge tv; there are also a microwave and a fridge.
