No elevator available. Clean, good breakfast and fine for those under, say, 55 who like nostalgia; not for one in his 80s.

Staff was very welcoming, convenient location in Cambridge , room was as very small, and the bathroom is very out of date.

What a wonderful experience to have stayed at Irving House. Highly recommended-

I like to stay here because it’s a short walk from Harvard Square and public transportation on metro and bus. Easy to get to South Station. Nice rooms, good buffet breakfast, homemade cookies, ice. Even the shared bathrooms are fine. Of course you can an en-suite room as well. Parking on site.

Con: dingy carpet and floor; poor noise insulation from neighboring rooms and hallway. I recommend requesting a room on the upper 4th floor and away from the stairs to minimize noise of people going in/out and up/down at all hours, especially because the shared bathrooms are in the hallway.

Very cozy bed and breakfast, with excellent staff. The place was clean and well-maintained. I liked it a lot. Only caveat is that they do not have an elevator, so be mindful that you may have to go up a couple flights of stairs.

Irving House exceeded my expectations. I arrived in Boston for a short night and a flight out very early the next day to the west coast. It was easy and quick (15 mins give or take) to get to (we didnt have traffic as I arrived Saturday afternoon and left 4:45 am Sunday). My room was very clean and well appointed as was the full bathroom across the hall which was very convenient. Both of the staff I encountered on the evening shift and night/early am shift were super friendly, informative, and helpful. It was great to have access to a fridge and freezer as I travel with some food. Soo appreciated. Oh, and the coffee they serve in the lobby was surprisingly REALLY good. I didn't get to eat their breakfast as I left too early but expect it was on par with the rest of their effort and performance. Neighborhood feels safe and I was able to take a nice evening stroll and feel very comfortable as a single 60-something woman. All around 5+ stars. Thank you and Great Job!

We were a little surprised when we arrived--a little room 15-20 feet from the reception desk with an old door, creaking floor, a row of books (which we moved to have more desk space), and a pretty old TV in a kind-of old house. The receptionist was a very friendly lady, and there was a small table near the front door with coffee and baked cookies. We quickly began to feel like we were staying in Granny's House! It didn't take long to adjust. The breakfasts were nice with enough local twist to be pleasant, and enough variety to enjoy more than one day. The staff--as you might expect in granny's house--was helpful and informal. When opening a window, a part of the spring-loaded guide on the side, and the receptionist was soon calling around and asking whatever staff wandered by if they had seen XXXXX. Soon located, he popped in and fixed things up, replacing the other side at the same time while chatting with us. I'm not sure who "granny" is, but we will certainly visit Granny's House on Irving Street again. Everything was wonderful! If I was working into the night, a better working space would be nice, but there was a living room 10 feet away with chairs, a sofa, more books top read, and I think some table/desk area. They have already thought about what they could provide!!

Overall, this place us a little pricey for a room with a shared bath, but it was…fine

I liked the cleaness of the place and customer care and the breakfast was nice location was really nice , I would say I loved the place glfollowing to see you next time About the mattress want that good it causes backache probably to get nice ones , I belive mind was pretty bad one side was equal another side wasn't even , what I mean by that was not same level.

Irving House is in a good location close to what we wanted to see. Breakfast was good with lots of choices. There is a laundry area but we did not use it. Quiet at night. I’m BeReal we would stay there again.
