Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Carlsbad

Clean rooms and comfortable beds. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was basic continental fare. Would have been nice to have better selection of fruit and maybe swap out the sausage w/ bacon. Hotel is next to main highway thru Carlsbad, so avoid rooms on front of building because of noise. We enjoyed our stay though.

It was as great to find this hotel had electric car charging stations.

Booked this hotel for the use of the pool for our children on Fourth of July weekend so they had a fun time, unfortunately the pool was closed in the middle of the summer. So we checked out early. I have yet to hear from the property manager to let us know if we can get a refund for the night NOT used. Don’t include the pool in your listings if we can’t use it.

This didn’t feel like typical marriotts, we are platinum elite and stay at Marriott’s a lot and this one was disappointing. We had our granddaughters with us and they wanted to swim, pool was out of order. Beds were very hard, breakfast was not that good and the bold coffee was like drinking a cup of hot water. Being there on the 4th and not having the pool working is not acceptable especially since I noticed a review a few days before ours that said pool was out of order then too.

So the hotel itself was nice,clean and pleasant. Staff was helpful. Only thing I have a complaint about is the pullout bed. We got a suite since we are a family of 5 the pullout bed was terrible the mattress was literally like 2 inches wide. My son ended up sleeping on the floor since the pullout was super uncomfortable he could feel the springs, and the pillows were hard as well. Other than that our stay was nice.

Our room was extremely small. Staff was friendly but not very helpful. Breakfast both mornings was cold. Extremely noisy (traffic, sirens, etc)

Stay was amazing. Would if been nice if the pool light was working. Had to go in at 8:30 pm was to dark and pool closed at 11 pm

Location to the caverns is nice, Half the lights in the room didn't work. The refrigerator was starting to come apart on the inside. No housekeeping - not even if you asked. (And this was after having to change rooms because the window frame in the first room was broken)

The check out clerk in the morning refused to give me a receipt. He told me he could not do it and that he would have to get his manager to do it for him. What kind of nonsense is that? It sounds more like a scam or something along those lines. Or it sounds like pure laziness.

The Tesla chargers were very nice and well maintained. They were also under a bright light so I felt secure with my car slow charging all night! Our carpet in our room had some stains as well as the couch. The lights above our bed were also mismatched. The hotel felt very nice except for a few weird maintenance choices. They mentioned they would only clean the room every 3 days because they were short staffed. I hope they raise wages for the people that work there. Breakfast was wonderful.

Convenient for our trip. Comfortable beds. Pleasant staff. Good breakfast even though waffle maker was broken.
