Econo Lodge Cedar Rapids South

Towels and bed sheets had stains. When we walked in a big bug crawled up the door and out the crack. Sink had spider web cracks and the bathtub was severely stained and the bathroom ceiling vent/ light combo didn’t even fit the hole properly and rattled so loud we thought it was going to drop out. We only chose this hotel because everything in Cedar Rapids is currently $400/$500 for one night and this was over $200 yet and the photos when booking looked fine. Definitely wouldn’t recommend until they do some major updating. The front desk staff was friendly and fast.

Room wasn’t clean things on the old carpet, tub wasn’t scrubbed,staff said it was the tub film. Possibly blood on the walls , stain on the mattress like how tell if theirs bedbugs. On the Bed found different types of hair sheets weren’t change . Staff excused as if housekeeping didn’t wear a hair net but it was different types of hair. When it got darker the party started first 3 medium size roaches , staff pretended to be surprised and said they fumigated a few months back . Staff never offer a solution in the 3 times I asked him to come to the room . Finally I saw smaller roaches coming down from the walls and microwave that was it . Told the staff at the front counter the same guy I been dealing with . Like yeah this ain’t going to work I want a refund he said a manager/supervisor wasn’t in and was the only one who could process one . I reached Expedia 2 times second time they gave me a solution and I left . They charged 3 times their regular rate because of the game in town for this place the health department should make them a visit. I didn’t stayed the night i wouldn’t and wouldn’t recommend nobody to

So, I am not sure if we just got "lucky" with the room or all rooms are like that. But, overall it was a pretty disappointing stay.

We arrived late and the front desk was great getting us checked in and same when we were checking out. Our room was adequate however, the door was broken, there was a hole in the wall where the handle had more than likely gone through it and was barely patched. Bedding was ok. On any other day this would probably be a "get what you pay for" but the prices were almost triple the normal price due to an event (with most hotels booked) in the area so the price was definitely not worth it.

Unfortunately, I do not have anything to "like" about this property. Not even located in a decent location. For the cost, I expected comfortable beds and no bugs. The facility is obviously aware of the problem because there are traps in the room. The walls are super thin making everything in the adjoining room my business. Because of the abundance of bugs in a "cleaned" room, I was not willing to partake in the offered breakfast. Not restful, Not worth the money.

My family and I stayed one night at Econo Lodge and had a horrible experience. We were bitten by what appeared to be bedbugs and spiders, and the room had mold in the shower and on the shower curtain. The towels and washcloths were badly stained, and there were ants on the counters and tables. After complaining, we were told nothing could be done, and the property manager refused to speak with us or offer compensation. I later had to go to the ER for treatment because my hand and arm became swollen from the bites, causing me to miss work. My wife was also badly bitten. In my opinion, this was the worst hotel experience we've had in Cedar Rapids, and the health department should inspect this property.

Our room was clean, the staff was good. Only one issue occurred. When we requested that our towels and washcloth be replace with clean items... we were promised the clean items but I ended up having to go down to the front desk when we returned in the evening, to get him to provide us with the clean towels and washcloths....which he took care of immediately.
