Barksdale House Inn

Very welcoming staff, conveniently located and parking was a breeze. Breakfastvwas great. Bed was comfor6abd plenty of hot water. I hoped to see a ghost. but not this time. Guess we will just have to come back.

The hotel is centrally located so it is easy walking to all the attractions and waterfront. This is a historic house with all the amenities. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The staff were amazing - so welcoming and helpful. Loved all the amenities- the 24 hour hot drink self service, ice and water dispenser, and help yourself goodies! Breakfast was delicious. Really loved our stay! We had a first floor front room. If you are light sensitive this is not the room for you as lots of light from the street lights stream through the blinds.

Charming hotel, great breakfast, lovely staff, perfect location. Couldn’t fault it. Only problem was that we only had 1 night, wish we had stayed longer! Nothing!

The location is exactly what we needed for walking and catching free Carta bus rides to the waterfront, the Market Hall, the Visitors Center. Having onsite parking is a big plus and a lot less expensive than other hotels. This is a very old building, and the outside is showing signs of age, such as dry rot not being repaired and roof eaves sagging. However, the Carriage House room we had was clean and comfortable, even if not updated. The minisplit ac worked well and quietly, and the room itself was quiet. No street noise. The breakfast provided in the main building was adequate buffet style, scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, yogurt and fruit, breads, etc., and was fine to start the day. Overall, because of the location, and a comfortable bed, we can give three stars. Otherwise, the lack of upkeep and updating may affect your stay. Ours was only two nights so it served our needs.

Great location with easy walking to restaurants and shopping

Wonderful breakfast and staff! Bed was very comfortable! Upholstered chairs in room need a good deep cleaning as they were badly stained! Shower needs a good bleach and scrub brush to get all the mildew stains removed. We were in room 14 first floor of Carriage House and the carpeted stairs going up to the second floor need shampooed or replaced as well.

The room was very cozy, the bed amazing. Restaurants within walking distance made dining super easy and enjoyable for dinner that evening! The breakfast was wonderfully prepared for me! There is usually a breakfast buffet but there wasn’t many staying the night before, so the lovely woman asked what I would like...asked if I'd like a yogurt parfait (it was just delicious), eggs, bacon, sausage, what type of toast...best breakfast I've had in ages! The construction next door made parking behind the hotel very difficult, as the entrance from the road into the parking lot was very narrow. It had just rained and the area had standing water in the spaces where I had to park - retrieving my luggage from the trunk was near impossible to tackle with water above my shoes. As a female solo traveler, I wasn't too keen on staying in the building facing the main hotel, with the parking lot between us. Yes, it was a locked door to enter/exit with a fob but I'll admit, I slept with a chair under the door just to be sure I wouldn't get startled during the night (there was a room across the hall from me and others upstairs but I had no idea if they were occupied that evening). The TV was super small, and got very few channels so I just went to bed.

Loved the location and the ambiance. Breakfast was fantastic! I would have preferred to be in the main building rather than the carriage house. Next time!

The location was good for walking most places. I felt safe with the locking doors to the outside and the parking lot was good with plenty of room. Breakfast in the morning was good and available snacks were convenient.

The B&B feel with antiques etc. The bed was so high, you needed a step get up in it. A bit worrisome in the dark.

The property was as pictured, and the interior was decorated nicely. The breakfast was the same every day and merely adequate. Snacks and coffee were available throughout the day. There is a large parking area which we did not use. I found some of the staff to be less than helpful. We had a stopped-up toilet in our room and reported it immediately. We spent the afternoon and early evening out of our room. When we returned the problem was never addressed. I texted a representative and explained the situation. Their solution made the problem worse. Eventually a plumber was sent, but I found the representative to be indifferent and slightly rude. I would never stay here again, not because of the property, but because of our experience.

Wonderful atmosphere overall and the breakfast was great. Fantastic location to walk to everything you would want to see in the French Quarter. Parking very convenient.
