Holiday Inn Express Charleston by IHG

The elevator was out of order leaving us to carry baggage up the stairs to the 2nd floor. We did not get the room we reserved thus no king sized bed, but two queen sized ones. This for two nights.

The room was very very clean, up to date Breakfast selection both mornings were good with a nice variety. Only two items that came up to speak about. Expedia had us registered for 3 rooms, so that took a while to figure out 2nd item. The one and only elevator for the hotel was out of order the first night and remained that way during our entire stay. Luckily we were only on the 2nd floor, but I had had a Pacemaker implemented a few weeks earlier so navigating the stairs was a bit difficult for me. 2nd

This was our second stay here. The first visit left a favorable impression, in part due to exceptionally helpful and friendly breakfast staff. This second visit, however, was disappointing. The elevator was inoperable, so we were moved to a first-floor room. The room was reasonably clean but had a slight odor and the bathroom sink had what looked like mold along the edge of the counter. The freezer in the mini fridge was severely frosted over. The room door would not always automatically lock upon exiting. We asked staff about this and were told they were having problems with some of the locks. One morning a hot breakfast was not available, apparently due to incompetent staff from the previous day. The staff accommodated our request for extra hand towels. It is a convenient location, but we might consider other options on our next visit to Charleston.

We didn't care for the buffet breakfast.

The room was clean. The elevator was broken. The suggestion was putting a rock in the outside door so you could get in and out closer to your room. Breakfast on 9/28 was not up to par. There was no hot food as the oven broke down between Sunday and Monday. The pancake machine’s batter was not put in but laying on the counter. Guests had to ask for butter to be put out. It was fine, but won’t stay there again.

The elevator was out and with an injured knee was forced to take the stairs the entire time.

Buffet breakfast was not stocked well. The lady working there was sitting at the tables and when we asked for something she was rude and saying we were always asking for something!

The breakfast was great! Lots of variety, hot foods were hot, orange juice was awesome! The cinnamon buns were amazing! The room was VERY clean! Nothing, this was perfect! We stayed 3 nights and was out and about mostly, so it fit our needs perfectly!

Also disappointed in the fitness room, it looked like someone had removed/stole the lighter barbells and the treadmill was ragged with a broken corner on the belt frame. Didn't use the pool area except some people were using their garbage cans to scoop out pool water they would then use to get their toilets to flush in their rooms. I actually think the breakfast at the hotel would be good except, one day it was closed due to the water leaks, one day the hotline was broken so they didn't have food, another day they were completely out of the famous holiday inn cinnamon rolls. As I said in the beginning, we were in a room 5 days and not once was the room cleaned. I emptied my own garbage and also fetched towels and did my own cleaning. Also, they do not give you a little coffee machine in your room like most places. I don't normally stay at IHG Holiday Inns so maybe this is normal.

Breakfast was a bit lacking. Signs for hot food but there was no food that may hed the signs. Like for gravy and biscuits but there were none. A couple of pieces sausage left. We ate breakfast elsewhere instead.

We really enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was enjoyable. The rooms were clean.

The location for the things that I wanted to do. The bed was too hard, the shower was terrible, and the breakfast food made me sick.

The worst hotel I've ever stayed at.

Rooms were clean and breakfast was the same as all Holiday Inns. But poor upkeep on equipment. Only one ice machine was working on the property so we had to ho to the 3rd floor to get ice. We were advised when we arrived side doors could or could not work with key card. So we had to walk yo the front all weekend to enter from the parking lot. Nothing was working for 3 days. Elevator issues whie staying over the weekend. Possible the worst stay ever at a Holiday inn express. So that is a good , this is our go to motel brand on 90% of our trips.
