The airconditioning and the fridge were extremely loud and I had to disconnect them. This is def not a 4 stars hotel unless I got the worst room of the hotel.

Great location for exploring Kings street. Too bad Marion square directly across is pretty heavily populated by homeless. There’s a Starbucks downstairs and a Walgreens across the street. Lobby is huge and beautiful. The hotel is >100 years old. Room is standard. Bedding is very comfortable. Bathroom is very small (can only fit one person inside at a time). AC control was stuck and our room was freezing. Our phone in the room didn’t work so we had to go downstairs to get someone to look at it. We waited in the lobby because the room was an igloo. The response was prompt. I asked the front desk lady what was wrong (in case we had to deal with it again later) and she just said the engineer set the temperature and everything should be fine. She made it sound like I didn’t know how to work the thermostat. I asked the engineer to go up with me to show me how he was able to set the temperature when I couldn’t . He said “oh I just reset the AC”…. I asked how he reset the AC. He then walked to the AC unit, took apart the front grill, reached in and reset the breaker, looked back at me and said “see? Just the breaker” as if I should know how to troubleshoot an old AC unit…. Not warm and fuzzy. Other than this incident, service people were mostly friendly and helpful.

My sister and I reserved a two queen delux room, but ended up with a delux king. Sleeping in one bed was ok, but the two we reserved would have been better.

Clean rooms, great location, friendly staff. Would stay here again.

Those were the only negative things about our stay! The room was clean and quiet, considering how busy they were. Staff was helpful and friendly. The hotel is beautiful and convenient for anyone wanting to explore downtown Charleston. We walked everywhere except Folly Beach!

Haven’t stayed here in eight years and not well maintained. My last stay!!

Very well maintained historic hotel.

The room was as clean as I've ever seen. Bathrooms also, yes 2 bathrooms in a 2 queen room. The staff are great also. Its worth the money imo.

We just stayed at the Francis Marion Hotel over the 4th of July and thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality, proximity, service, and staff at this great hotel. It is situated near numerous activities and not far from the harbor. A great experience. Would definitely return.

I did not care for how the female valet attendant confirmed that we were hotel guests. I definitely felt rushed to leave. She would benefit from coaching on how to verify while not irritating the guests. We were made to feel like unwanted trash being chased off.

We stayed for just 1 night, wish we could have stayed longer. The beds were comfy, the hotel right on King Street close to shopping and great food. Would stay here again and recommend!

Was great! Central location and amenities!

What a beautiful hotel steeped in history! The lobby is beautiful, and the room is comfortable and classy. The hotel staff was welcoming and full of great advice.

Nice property that’s been remodeled but kept a lot of the old time feel and look. Microwaves in the room would be nice as well as vents in the bathroom to help with shower steam but overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

Beautiful property in the heart of Charleston

A well-restored old hotel. Elegant lobby, adequate rooms and comfortable beds. Loved the view of the harbor from our window. My only complaint is the bathroom, which is the smallest I've ever been in. I don't know that there is much that could be done, but it was so tiny and had an interesting footprint for the toilet. Perhaps this is all that could be done with the layout of the old building.

The property looks good in the main areas. The room we were assigned had several issues. The biggest was a big slope as you entered the bathroom. It made it very difficult for my husband who uses a cane. We ended up just spending one night not two because we were afraid he would fall entering the bathroom. We told the front desk. We paid for a night that we could not safely stay in due to the floor being uneven in several spots. Because we went thru Expedia they would not refund the cost of the second night.
