We loved our stay at The Academy hotel. The beds were one of the best parts! The mattresses were memory foam or something because they hugged you as you slept. The hotel staff were very kind and helpful with all our questions. The only thing that might need attention is the poor elevator. There was only like 1 and it was super slow.

This was the last hotel on our 13 day trip out west and it was a nice last stop. Clean, comfy beds and all the bells and whistles for the price.

    Excellent

Very outdated. Carpet could use some cleaning and shampooing, sink needed to get new caulking, drawers were old and not maintained. There was a vent in the restroom that needed to be cleaned but it also did not work. The Tv took longer than needed to get going. Not enough outlets to plug in phones to get charged. The chair had crumbs of food since who knows when.

The room had a strange smell, the ac filter said it needed to be changed, there was something sticky on the floor, there was mold in the bathroom and the toilet took forever to flush. Tried to talk to housekeeping. She offered to spray a pink bottle of fluid. I declined and said we would not be staying there. I replied multiple times to the messages from front desk to no avail.

The room was filthy and smelled like a dog kennel. The hallways smelled, the windows were falling apart - the weather seal was literally falling off. The door has a 3/4 inch gap to the hallway. The windows in the stairwell had large spiderwebs. The wing they put us in has no elevator, which makes it very difficult for elderly people. The bathroom was disgusting, especially around the front of the toilet. They ran out of food at 9 am for breakfast. The evening before, a large motorcycle group arrived that the hotel had not properly prepared for, and they had to close the restaurant. I will never stay here again, and Hotels.com should not offer this hotel as an option. Front desk staff acted as if there was no problem. The bar staff looked very unprofessional, half shirts, excessive jewelry, and looked as if they were on drugs or part of a gang. Not a very good impression.

I just recently stayed at The Academy and it was overall a good experience. The room was clean, the staff was helpful and very friendly. The only issue I had was the morning breakfast wasn't refilled very well after the first rush went through. Breakfast was from 7-10am or something like that and my family and I showed up around 830am and most of the food was gone, along with condiments, syrup, orange juice/milk etc. It felt more like slim pickings, getting what little was left while you can type of thing and there was a good amount of people walking around just looking for something to eat, wondering where everything was. Also the bar/grill area, which was advertised to be used for dinner and drinks later at night had no one down there. My family and I wanted to eat there in the evening and have a couple drinks but there was 1 cook and that's it. It said "wait to be seated" but no hostess, no waiters, no bartender. I went to the front desk and he said that he could seat us and take our order and drinks but it was going to be slow because he also had to check people into the hotel as well. We ended up going to Red Robin and spending over $100 for a couple burgers and regular drinks instead (that's a whole other issue....good food/service but insanely expensive for some burgers and an app and no alcohol). Anyway, The Academy is a good hotel but could definitely use some polish to really be considered great like it was the last time we stayed there about 6 years ago.

Not so great, had issues on phone, toilet, bath tub etc. Room was so congested and looks very old. Price was very high but the room was not so great.

When telling the staff about it, the front desk agent defended this behavior rather than apologizing for it. Imagine if you or your family members, who are expecting reasonable privacy, as getting ready or sleeping, and a housekeeper enters without your consent. Not a place I would want my family to stay at, just because of the gross privacy violations and no accountability or an effort to correct this behavior as this an ongoing issue here.

Great hotel!! Looks unassuming on the outside, but and oasis awaits you on the other side of the doors!! Great free breakfast as well…would definitely stay at The Academy again!

We have stayed here so many times over the years but had really gone downhill. Starting with a promotion that was listed on site at booking that was not honored…$10 credit for food magically got turned into a free drink well that is not ok and we are not drinkers so did nothing for us. Asked if they would honor the previous deal and was told no the new owners will not honor it! The rooms are outdated and breakfast was not like usual either, no more waffle machines which is disappointing. Used to be great hope it can become that soon but didn’t like what I saw here this time for sure. Beware.

The hotel has significantly deteriorated in the last year since we went. The carpets are dirty, the walls are dirty, the bathroom door handle didn’t work and wouldn’t lock. The toilet seat was so dirty from the back. I don’t think it’s ever been wiped down. The mattress was so old that when my husband moved the whole mattress moved. I’ve never had that happen before. The breakfast USED to be amazing. They had these fancy chefs cooking omelets. Now you have to pay $6.99 for one that must be paid when you do your reservation I think...not too sure, that turned me off immediately so I stuck with the free food options. I find it funny how you have to give your name to get a paper plate to eat breakfast yet every single door that leads outside is always unlocked. Apparently they value someone stealing the flavorless eggs more than the safety of the guests. We stayed 4 nights and by the last morning before checkout I honestly was ready to go. I grabbed French toast, it was cold and stale. My husband grabbed eggs and ham and said they were also cold. We grabbed coffee and the cup was dirty. When we gave it to an employee and let him know the cup was dirty, he grabbed it and threw it and didn't respond or say anything. One of the nights cost $180 which I’m so mad about. I won’t be back to this hotel ever again. So disappointing!

Also, do not be deceived by airport shuttle. They have a company you can hire service from. They do not have free airport shuttle.

The room, every time we walked in was extremely musty. The bathroom had broken tile and the floors were either dirty or moldy. I am not sure how old the carpet is, but it definitely needs to be replaced. The hallways, due to no AC, were very warm. The pillows were very uncomfortable, and the beds were okay. The AC had a very hard time keeping up. It ran pretty much all day and night. We had several warm, sleepless nights. The restaurant was some times open and sometimes not. Due to staffing, there was only drinks served or a very limited menu. The breakfast was okay. We had one day where we had to hunt down where to get plates, two days where we had to check in for breakfast. We chose to eat out for two days. We looked into the history of the hotel and at one time it was very well liked. The hotel is under new management and I sincerely hope they turn things around for a more positive stay for the future. My friend and I will not chose to stay there again

The staff was friendly. Rooms were clean.

  • Engine customer Jul 2026

The rooms were unclean hair everywhere dirt in the bathroom didn't even look like the floors had been vacuumed in weeks.

  • Engine customer Jul 2026

The complimentary breakfast was good, but it could have used a little more variety, especially for guests staying multiple days. That was really our only complaint. Overall, it was a great value for the price, and we’d definitely consider staying here again.

Great stay. Extremely friendly staff. We were on our honeymoon and got upgraded to a suite for free! Good breakfast- glad it opened early so we could eat and explore the area before it got too hot. Rooms a bit dated but very clean. Very central to local attractions.

Do not book here. There is black mold on the ceiling of the bathrooms in multiple rooms. When I asked if we could switch rooms I was met with a rude and hostile manager who was the complete opposite only 30 minutes earlier when I checked in with her. When I asked if housekeeping could at least come in and clean the mold spots, she stated there is no housekeeping or maintenance on site. She then began threatening to refund us and told us we could leave but said good luck finding another hotel in this town tonight because they’re all booked out for the tim McGraw concert (which we had no idea about we were just driving through town and needed a place to stay for the night). I would have accepted the refund but because we booked through Expedia she could not complete that on her end. We were so tired from traveling and couldn’t believe the situation so honestly we just slept in the car and kept it moving the next day. Horrible experience.

I will not recommend this property to anyone. When we arrived we were given keys to a room that was occupied with people in it. We were moved to a room with broken a/c, then another room with broken a/c, we tried to fix it by cleaning filthy vent, no help. Maintenance came up and could not fix he said ask for a room with a bigger unit. Back down we go now shooting for room 4, all the while being told it’s an up grade, no it was the same room. Finally AIR! We were exhausted from a 15hour drive, this didn’t help. The elevator always smelled like pot. I went to front desk asked for the manager, Nope can’t talk to a manager and she doesn’t return calls either. I asked to be comped a night stay for all our troubles but the manager I’m told probably won’t do that and I would have to move hotels and ensure more cost, I said not unless you refund me, nope! The second night we were there someone next door was enjoying their pot smoking time and our room freaked. I was told they got a fine what, throw them out, not legal in a hotel. Other people were complaining at the desk by me, no hot water, no a/c. Breakfast was actually ok. Trying to get into the parking lot a bit tricky as well. Highly do not recommend. Some front desk staff were rude.
