Hawthorn Extended Stay By Wyndham Columbia / Ft. Jackson

Stained sheets, mold and cockroaches.

Don’t be fooled by the pictures of the lobby. The best thing I can say is this: it has working A/C (it was in the high 90’s) and the access from the outside to rooms was pretty secure with keycard access only for stairwells and inside rooms.

Breakfast offering was plentiful and very good. The seating area was ver nice as well

This was by far the grossest hotel room. The couch had unusual stains all over it. The door was weirdly sealed off. The inside was dirty and felt sticky. Outside there was trash everywhere used condoms and other yucky stuff. If it hadn’t been so late we wouldn’t have stayed. We had to share the bed because the couch was so nasty. Luckily we were going straight to sleep and leaving very early. 10 out or 10 do not recommend. I will say the nighttime office staff was so lovely but even in the morning there was no coffee in the lobby machine.

The staff were extremely helpful and nice. The pictures online are a little misleading. The feel is more of a motel as half the rooms had an outside entrance, which normally wouldn’t bother me but I didn’t feel like the area was the safest. The beds were comfortable and bedding was clean. The shower wasn’t very clean and an old washcloth was hanging on the shower rod. I didn’t notice it until we were getting ready to leave or I would have said something. Also noticed a few hairs on the shower wall. Location was easy access to Fort Jackson. Breakfast was decent. You get what you pay for and we were only there to sleep so it was manageable. I wouldn’t stay again though.

The paint was chipping all over the bathtub, the bathroom was very small, the lighting was very dim and the light in the living room did not work. There was no bedding for the pull out bed. The couch and couch pillows had stains all over them. The ceiling was cracking and peeling from what looked like water damage. The stairwell leading up to our room had A LOT of ants everywhere. There was garbage lining the stairs.

Great stay

This place needed some work. The phone in the room didn't work, the toiletries weren't stocked even had no toilet paper, we were issued our key rooms. So anyone can enter into the corridor where your room is. But to get out of the corridor you have to use the key and the key would not work to get me out of the corridor which made me very uncomfortable. I ended up having to walk a long way around to get ice and to the front desk to let them know I need a toilet paper and toiletries. When I asked for the toiletries, the front desk looked at me and said, well," I can't bring them to you" so all in all, they made me walk all the way to my room because my hands are full and have to come all the way back to get my toiletries. The pool seemed to maybe have a leak because the water was really low and the pool was very outdated and chensi. I am still waiting to hear from the manager.

I stayed here for four nights and they only clean my room on the second night I requested a cleaning for the third and fourth but no one clean my room! Other than that the hotel was OK except the cards often don’t work I had to get new cards and you can get stuck outside you need to remember to bring your phone if you were staying here.

Overall I'd stay again for the value of cost to small things we didn't love. Staff was nice and it smelled nice in lobby like someone had been cleaning. Our only real issue was that the floor in the room was sticky, like the cleaner didn't change their mop water or it hadn't been cleaned well after a sticky spill. We wetted a cloth and cleaned it a bit ourselves just to be able to walk to the bathroom to shower, and you could see how very dirty the floor was. The elevators also had some sketchy looking flooring which is no big deal but makes the place look less well maintained.

Only bad thing is pool closed to early

Sorry to say but the room they had us in had roaches and they had to move us to another room in the other side the reviews are not what you see when you get to the property and they had molded in the ceiling in the room me and my family had a bad experience.

Your hotel was wonderful, I will be staying there again when i go visit the area again.
