The Room reeked of cigarette smoke and mildew; we had to go back to Expedia and ask to change our stay to a different hotel in the area. This place is the worst and also would not credit back the cost for our stay even though they agreed to do so with my wife and with the Expedia agent on the day of our arrival. Expedia on the other hand did well to provide us a credit on our account for future travel due to this. I have been a member of Expedia 20+years and this is the first time I have ever had to complain... Obviously I do not recommend this hotel. Stay away from this one!

A practical stop as we were traveling - decent value for the price!
-
The rooms are very worn. AC not working properly in first room, next room had curtains taped to the wall. Mattresses and bedding stained. Staff was very kind and tried to help. Breakfast was ok.
-
Hotel desk staff was helpful and courteous and the breakfast was decent although tables were not wiped often between guests (syrup and crumbs on every table. The room itself had an odd odor, a stained bath towel and overall rundown appearance.

I was traveling from Duluth area to Nauvoo. This was a good place to stay for the night & continue on the next day. I would consider saying there again.

Liked everything. No elevator to second floor. Friendly staff. Clean. Good waffles for breakfast.

I would never had stayed here, but last resort because of state swim was in town. The hotel smelled, needs updating badly and the toilet moved from the wall. Not sure how this hotel ever got 8/10. I WILL never stay again and actually would like some money back.

First room they assigned me had a bad musty odor. Had to change rooms. Shower dripped nonstop. Bed was comfortable.

Great place for a quick stop!

The first room we were given smelled like mold and mildew and the shower spout was dripping and unable to be turned off. I asked to be relocated to another room, which they did. However the 2nd room smelled almost as bad (mold and mildew) and the toilet seat wasn’t attached properly. The person behind the desk was incredibly nice but the rooms were not in good shape.

This hotel was awful. The lobby and our rooms smelled like cigarette smoke. Our curtain was ripped, the room seemed dirty. Morning breakfast was undercooked and very minimal. We would have left if we hadn't already pre-paid for the room. Would never stay here again.

Everything was good
-
Okay, but nothing to rave about.
-
Good basic room. Clean and comfortable. Downsides: Bathroom sink plunger didn’t work and for a few hours there was no hot water
-
Clean room. Check in was a little slow but staff was friendly.

Everything was fine and would stay again. We just were there to sleep for the night on a long road trip. No issues

First of all, although we decided the night before to go to Iowa City to visit family, I was happy that there was a room available on the Fourth of July. The front desk person was very nice and of course that's very important. The hotel smells of cigarette smoke and It seems to be in the carpet, etc perhaps because of the years when smoking was allowed in the hotel. I reserved two rooms. One for my husband and myself and one for my elderly mother who can not climb stairs. I did ask the gentleman if there was a handicap accessible room available although it was last minute. He said no, but one of the rooms can be on the first floor so that was good. After getting my mom settled on the first floor, I thought we'd take the elevator up to our room because we had food and of course bags. I asked the attendant where the elevator was and he said "we don't have an elevator. It's only 2 floors." I have never in my 51 years heard of such a thing. I am so grateful that they had the room on the first floor still available. I didn't ask if there was an elevator ahead of time because I didn't know I had to. Lesson learned. A positive was the location because there are things to do and eat within walking distance. Since I paid through Expedia, I would have been screwed because the rooms were non-refundable and by it being a holiday, I have no idea what we would've done. Major crisis averted. Do with this information what you will. Plan properly and accordingly.

No Elevator which is not handy when you are on the second floor. Hotel had some funky smells. Way overpriced but that's what I get for waiting as long as I did to book a room during a weekend with a lot going on in Iowa City.
-
The hotel was quiet and the room was generally clean. The downside was the hallways smelled of cigarettes and an odd mix of food/spices that carried over to the rooms. I ended up purchasing an air freshener for our room. The pool was cold (79 degrees).

There were 4 rooms rented for our family. NO ELEVATOR and we were all on the 2nd floor, yet they had luggage carts for you to use. Found this out AFTER we loaded the cart and couldn’t find the elevator. Hotel smelled funky in most rooms, very musty among other smells. Chair was missing from one room, had to get a new room for one family member because the a/c wasn’t working. Stains on bedsheets, hair dryers and outlets that didn’t work. Very hard to communicate with staff; we asked for rooms next to each other and they gave us rooms apart and gave the rooms next to us to the people that came in after us. Very run down and dingy, food very mediocre. There is a reason it was half the price of others in the area.
