Dayton Vitality Hotel

No breakfast, no bed!!!! THEY ARE PERMANENTLY CLOSED AND WE WERE NOT NOTIFIED UNTIL IT WAS TIME FOR US TO CHECK IN> BOOKING.COM DO Better!!! EVERYTHING

Got a text the day were to arrive that the hotel ceased operations- my card was charged 3 days after closure- refunded quickly

Location is good. Easy to get in and out of the town. Horrible experience. I was DOUBLE CHARGED, paying two 183.07 for a one night stay !!! I made the reservation and paid in full on Booking.com. The hotel charged me directly again. When i arrived at the hotel, i could not do the self check in. The lady at the reception, who was extremely unhelpful and did not even bother to care for guests, operated at her computer end at my repeated request and in the end my self check-in went through. Dulpication occurred at that moment i guess. When i contacted the hotel later, they did not admit charging me. :( Also, their digital key did not work. I was stuck wtih all my lugguge outside my room for almost an hour. Until i got the room key, real key. Another guest had the same problem. No one bothered to care for us.

The hotel had closed the week prior. I found out on our own Thursday. I notified booking.vom Thursday evening about that. Really shouldn’t be asking for a review.

The elevator was a little slow, that made it feel like a vacation! The Oregon district is very nice with several good restaurants

Totally automated hotel. No staff, except security guard, elevators stopped working, no telephones in rooms,

Checking in was OK. There was a young lady on a chair in the corner of the lobby with a laptop. When I got there, she just pointed over to a QR code on a sign and said you can just check in over there on that QR code. It did not recognize the confirmation number that you provided us. When I went back over to her, she looked in the computer, asked for my name and was able to get me checked in actually just she just sent me the appropriate link. Once given the link it gives me a QR code I can pay for parking and all of that sort of stuff. So the check-in is not the smoothest. If that girl happened not to be there, I would not have been able to get checked in. I have no idea what kind of hours they keep with this type of lobby check-in.

We chose the Vitality for an overnight stay on our road trip home. The hotel was clean and adequately appointed for our purposes (shower & sleep) but didn’t offer much more. We think it may have been under renovation as the rooms were lacking carpeting or rugs. The only staff members were security guards and they were very helpful. We’d choose to stay here again under the same circumstances but not if we were visiting Downton Dayton.

Disappointing

It felt more like an automated experience than anything. Self check in, digital room key, and a continental breakfast that left a little to be desired. Stayed two nights and barely saw anyone else. Kind of gave haunted mansion vibes. That said— the best was very comfortable and the room was nicely spacious.

The group that owns Vitality Hotel brags that they offer hospitality with technology. What they don’t tell you is that tech means minimal staff. The self service check in process is a nightmare if you book through a 3rd party like Hotels.com bc they send your check-in code to an Expedia email address. Often the one “concierge” on duty is gone leaving only a security guard. Clearly their high tech model lowers overhead considerably. The newly remodeled bathrooms are nice and contemporary. The cement floors in the rooms are odd but OK. The price is good and the added $15 a day deal they have w the attached parking garage is fair. The location can’t be beat, but don’t expect to nap in the afternoon or early evening if there is a concert at the Leavitt Pavilion. I like the daily two free bottles of water and the in room coffee is good. The microwave in the lobby is available for guests. Only the top four floors are open as they complete renovations. They still have the tattered outdated carpet on the Mezzanine level from when it was the Raddison or even Crowne Plaza. Their were leaking pipes from the ceiling on the Mezzanine at the entrance to the skyway. I will stay here again and look forward to the rooftop bar and restaurant to open. It is my desired expectation that they improve the check-in process. Ice machines do not work in every level.

Staff was friendly but there was lack of in person support after 8pm. Issues had to be resolved over text.

The location absolutely can’t be beat. It’s in a beautiful space within walking distance of lots of restaurants and shopping. Unfortunately this was not the stay I had hoped for. Trying to figure out how to get to the check in area was difficult enough, but then I was greeted with no check in desk. The check in desk is apparently a Rollie cart… and the “concierge” had her back to me so I had NO CLUE that is what/who she was. They have self check in which is a menace when booking.com puts your name in wrong. In the middle of finally getting some help to check in the very nice lady who was help me in checking in peace’d out and left me with another staff member who treated me like a nuisance when I had questions about anything. She didn’t even tell me my room number… had to figure that out myself on the check in app that they use, which also wasn’t explained and is a new concept for someone who usually stays at places like the Drury. Getting to the hotel from the parking garage was like walking through a bland swamp it was so hot, and there was little to no signage so I felt like I was trying to navigate a maze to find how to get to my room. When I called the elevator and it wasn’t working, I had to go on another hunt for the lobby to ask how to get to my room without having to shlep up 11 flights of stairs. When I did get to my room it felt much like a fancy prison cell. The bed was great but the cinderblock walls and bare concrete floor did not feel “luxury” at all, and the lamps, while they look cool will blind you if you actually turn them on. When I went into the restroom there was 0 hand soap in the pump, and there was no phone to call the nonexistent front desk for help so I ended up using the body wash any time I needed to wash my hands. In the morning when I went to shower the water was discolored. Needless to say, I was quite disappointed with my first time trying to treat myself to a boutique hotel that was rated so highly.
