Great location, clean property, friendly staff.

The property itself was very clean and exceptionally well maintained. We also loved that complimentary bikes were available to use, which was a fun way to explore the area. The biggest standout, though, was Andre, the manager. He was genuinely friendly, welcoming, and went above and beyond to make sure guests had everything they needed. He truly is the heart of this property and made our stay even better. The only reason I’m not giving a perfect review is that the amenities were fairly limited beyond the bikes and an ice machine. Also, because it’s so close to the beach, it would be helpful to have more storage in the rooms—a closet, cubbies, or another dedicated space for beach chairs, towels, and other gear would make a big difference. Overall, this is a clean, well-kept property in an excellent location with outstanding management. If you’re looking for a simple, comfortable place to stay near both the beach and the bay, this is a great choice.

Everything was clean and check in was smooth. The manager was nice and personable and very informative and thorough while setting up our key pad. You will not find a better location for the price. 2 minute walk to the beach and on site parking. My wife and I will absolutely be back.

The Surf Shanty Motel was exceptional! We will be back! So close to the beach; within walking distance of all the restaurants and bars in Dewey. Literally pulled the car in the lot and never drove while we were there. Andre is extremely welcoming and always with a smile. The room was spotless! They have bikes you can use if you want as well & a free gift from the Surf Shack.

Cleanest motel I've stayed in! The property manager Andre was very helpful and accommodating. My friends and I were only there for two nights, but wish we could have stayed longer. The location is also perfect- walking distance everywhere and just one short block to the beach. Would definitely stay again!

Loved this stay! The room was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They even had bikes to use. It’s a great location with easy access to everything on Dewey Beach.

Location was great. Staff was very helpful. Our mattress was uncomfortable as it had a permanent fill on one side. Needs replacing.

Andre and his team are truly unmatched when it comes to hospitality. Their welcoming attitude, attention to detail, and genuine care for both their property and their guests made our visit exceptional. We felt valued from the moment we arrived and appreciated how dedicated the team was to ensuring we had a wonderful experience. We will definitely be returning next season and can't wait to stay here again! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly recommended!

Distances to beach makes this an A+. It's a simple motel with classy updates and a nice vibe. Bathroom is small but it works for a short stay.

The beach was quiet and uncrowded, which made the stay even more relaxing. Andre, the manager, was responsive, pleasant, and professional throughout our visit. One of my favorite details in the room was a photo hanging on the wall of a Black family enjoying the beach. I absolutely loved it! As a black mother traveling with my daughter for birthday celebrations, that small touch meant so much and made us feel seen and welcomed. I truly appreciated the inclusive vibe in Dewey and Rehoboth. It felt genuine, refreshing, and welcoming. Sometimes the simplest things make the biggest impact, and this stay was full of those moments. Highly recommend!

Location was fantastic and the access to the bikes was great. Room was clean. Two suggestions to make it even better - have a room key drop box for when checking out and have a guide in the room outlining the amenities like the bikes and when they are available.

We had a GREAT stay at the motel for a few days throughout the week at the beginning of June. The staff was super attentive, the location to the beach was MORE than ideal, and the amenities were perfect for what we were needing. We very much will be using this motel in the future for our beach getaways!

Updated, cute, modern hotel at the beach and only a short walk from the water and places to go. Loved the design of the place and that it was more updated. Easy check in and check out.

Very clean room. Great location,ocean side and quiet. Parking is convenient. Beds are super comfortable. Nice touch on the complimentary toiletries and water.Staff are super friendly and helpful. Beach cruiser bikes for use on premise delightful touch. AC could be colder,window units. No closet or place to hang clothes. Hot water took a while to heat up. Would definitely stay again and price point was great for area and season.

Room was clean. Plenty of parking. Check in was confusing but we got in. Front desk employee was helpful with our TV.
