Holiday Inn Effingham by IHG

My room wasn’t clean, the vents were filthy and the windows sills were dirty. I normally stop in Effingham every time we traveled to Chicago and this was my first and last time staying in the Holidays Inn.

Clean and quiet. Very nice area

Common areas need new carpet and paint. Restaurant closes too early. More things right than wrong, but room for improvement

What we didn’t like is that tge breakfast is not included, you have to buy it!

Older carpet, furniture, fixturing. The couch in our room actually had stains all over it from moisture of some sort. Very humid in our room though we checked in at 8 pm so probably no A/C ran all day. Everything was clean but old. My biggest complaint was as you walked down the hallway, 3rd floor, every room door was white but had grubby dirty hand prints on every door, kind of gross.

Have a dampness to the room. In the carpet - dampness. Ceiling - water spots

CONS about the property: VERY DATED AND RUN DOWN. Very little parking in front and side entrances weren't working so you had a long walk hauling luggage around the building, no complimentary breakfast, pool and hot tub were dirty, no pool towels, only 4 chairs in pool area. Floor in pool area is uneven and water sits in the low areas so you're standing in water when you enter the pool area (HAZARDOUS)! Carpets throughout are worn and dated (look dirty). All walls and doors are in need of fresh paint, wallpaper and updating. Lighting in room is extremely dim. Tubs and sinks are cracked, chipped and in need of caulking and updating. Room blinds are not completely room darkening as light comes in around them. Walls are extremely thin, you hear everything next door. Toilets are unusually low off the ground. SUMMARY: Price was cheap on Expedia so if you want a comfortable bed and hot shower and can look pass the aethetics of the property, its a good choice.

It was a great stay.. Very good pizza at the restaurant.

Traveling off of 70…highly recommend this hotel..easy off exit and easy back on! New bar with patio access and dining as well..

Nice hotel. Great location on the Ohio River. Walking distance to the old downtown.

The manager Kerrie was wonderful! We had a couple issues that she did try to fix and even though she wasn’t able to, she did what she could. This is a wonderful place to stay, the staff was super friendly and we will stay again.

The cleanliness was great, and TK Grill was fantastic.

Very clean and very friendly staff. We only stayed one night so didn’t have a chance to use the amenities (gym, pool, etc). However, they looked good and well maintained. Location is great. Convenient to gas stations, restaurants, Starbucks, etc. Good stop when on a road trip.
