-
Very long check-in time. At least 15 people waiting to check in.

Used soap in the bathroom.

I definitely like the shuttle from the airport but I would advise that there’s more information given when it comes to using the shuttle. This was my first time flying into Newark and got frustrated when I didn’t know the process to get to the shuttle.

Great front desk staff

I had flown into EWR to attend a meeting that evening and decided to return my rental and take the hotel shuttle. I selected Crowne Plaza because of close proximity to the airport and the 24 hr shuttle. However, I didn't know that EWR has a separate location for hotel shuttles (except for Marriott for some unexplained reason) from all other ground transportation at the three terminals. There is no signage or guidance for passengers at the airport unless you happen to use the AirTrain. I had to call the hotel and then walk all the back from Terminal A Past where I returned the rental and then to the AirTrain station and wait for a train to the next stop to find the hotel shuttle. By that time it was past midnight. The hotel could have assisted if they included shuttle information on their website. Every other airport I have used has all of the shuttle zones located with the rest of ground transportation.

Smelled like cigarettes.

pool closed, restaurant minimally staffed, ghetto as it can get; but by the airport sooo?? maybe worth it. it’s not really the hotel as much as the area that needs a major rehab. my 2cents

It is possible that my problems were specific to the room I was given, and that other rooms are fine. I did not complain about my room during my stay, because I was busy sightseeing outside the room, but also because I did not realize some of the issues until my last night. I did provide all of this info at checkout, so I expect them to fix it. I did not ask for but also was not offered any compensation.

The property was very clean and attractive. I used to lodge my Soldiers there on a monthly basis. However, the staff was not do nice upon my arrival. After my flight was canceled after midnight. I was told over the phone that I could check in, once I arrived the lady who would not give me her nane, nor was she wearing a name tag, was angry I guess because she was eating as if I interrupted her. She was a medium heavy build, with a maybe Pakistan accent, but she was rude. When I told her that I will just relax in the lounge until I could check in, she immediately guided me towards the shuttle back to the airport, as if I were not welcome. I did call IHG and opened a complaint on here. I left to the airport, where I slept in a chair and waited for the USO to open and rested there until 3pm. Upon my arrival this time I had a young lady who was a breath of freshair.she was pleasant and very helpful. Please look up her name and she also checked me out with a smile. Customer service is key

Additionally the property has not been properly maintained. In one upper corner of the room over the bedside table the wallpaper had peeled back significantly and during the night pieces of plaster fell onto the bedside table. There was also significant mold in that area of the wall and ceiling. There were also wires from the air conditioning unit sticking out significantly from underneath the heating/ac unit that someone could trip on. Lastly, the temperature in the room was 77 degrees when we entered on an August evening. Not exactly a welcoming feeling.

Room was clean and hotel was extremely convenient after having a flight cancelled! Quick check in process and staff were knowledgeable and friendly!

They were pretty short staffed the night I got in, but the lady at the checkout was professional and courteous, working straight through the night till the morning shift when I checked out and still smiled and was helpful. No complaints- the free shuttle worked as expected to and from the airport, and the hotel was under 10mins away. Room was clean, shower was hot, blackout curtains worked and there was fresh coffee even lattes available for purchase in the morning. I’d stay here again in a future transit.

Room was not cleaned and smelled like a water leak. Stains on the wall. The elevator is very loud and you can hear it from the room nonstop.
