Great location, clean room nicely decorated and the pool looked great tho I didn't go in for a swim

Hotel price does not include a surprise fee for parking. Other nicer hotels in the area for their rate when adding their parking fee. Lost internet almost immediately on the entire floor I was on. Was not notified of the problem by staff and when I went to the desk I was told I could move but no help would be provided. Being handicapped they did proved the 4 extra pillows I need in bed to sleep for a medical condition but those took a second trip to bring to new room. No discounts or even a free bottle of water they offer in the room. Tap water seemed okay but you never know. Front desk could provide no restaurant recommendations so if you are from out of town you are on your on your own. In hindsight I reviewed all their bad reviews and see a canned response from the hotel offering a half hearted apology but no solution or offer to customers who experience problems during their stay no matter how bad the problem they endure. Obviously written by some programmed response. Due your due diligence before choosing this hotel.

The room was very clean and updated

The entire building smells of cleaning products and vomit. Front desk staff were not friendly at all. There are much better properties nearby to stay.

We had problems with our check in and the front desk staff was less than helpful. As a result it took us an hour.

Parking is pricey. Breakfast is convenient and the rooms are reasonable. Location is great with proximity to food and shops.

However, the main reason for the poor rating is the AC and communication from the staff. Two day stay and most of it, AC was not working, although the maintenance was quick to repair it twice, the communication from staff was not great.

Uber rides from hotel to Berkeley which is where I mostly traveled too- was easy. Good food options around hotel. Bed was comfortable. Only negative thing is the customer service from front desk. Not helpful, rude, and stand offish

I had an early Uber, and ran down with my breakfast ticket to grab something to eat, and I was informed that the breakfast ticket did not include grab and go items. It seems like it should include everything. The gentleman was generous enough to take my ticket this time for the 2 items that I selected.

Safe and walkable! Room was clean but bath tab was a little scratched. Need room cleaning every day. I had to pick up towels at lobby.

Check in was easy and staff was friendly. Our room was excellent! Very spacious and clean. Bed was very comfortable and the bathroom/shower was just as good. We also had a great view of the bay bridge. There are many walkable options for dining and shopping, and the hotel is conveniently located right off of the freeway. There was plenty of parking and it seemed to be secure. Highly recommend this hotel and would absolutely stay here again.

I liked they had a 24 hour market and a breakfast buffet

Just very friendly people. Property is clean, nicely appointed and conveniently located to SF, Berkeley and of course Oakland/Emeryville. Parking is easy in and out, check in is fast and efficient. I’ve stayed here now 3 nights in last month for visits to my son who is at UC Berkeley. Convenient and more affordable generally than Berkeley’s limited offerings.

I used the gym every day, which was a nice amenity. The location was great, with easy access to shops, restaurants, and public transportation. Overall, it was worth the stay, and I would definitely stay here again.

Front staff were very unfriendly and unwelcoming. A smile goes a long way.

Morning of the second night and wanted To make we had room when we arrived. Also called 9 am on the 1st day of our reservation to make sure the hotel understood what wasn’t happening. Got the there our room had been sold and the girl we had spoken to was At front desk. The manager was too busy to come to address this problem. They made big deal of giving we credit for 1st night but never got anything else and then not the suite we reserved

Poor maintenance on toilets , closet door and lack of usb connections

Perfect location for moving around in the Bay Area. Straight across the Bay Bridge from San Francisco or immediate access to Oakland, Berkley and the East Bay. Not to mention Bay St. shopping 1 block away.

Wonderful Comfortable Stay at Sonesta Hotel. Beds and pillows are amazing for a great night rest. Staff is friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend and will stay here again when visiting SF.
