The place is beautiful, the bed was super comfortable, and the location excellent. I really liked the setup with the TV room and the bedroom woth the jacuzzi. I also liked the music on the speakers downstairs. And having access to the balcony overlooking the street was really cool. There was a gross-looking mystery stain on our shower curtain. We ran out of toilet paper because there isn't regular maid service or a person at the desk downstairs, the cords hanging open/uncovered on the ceiling. But mainly, the A/C unit was so loud! It would wake me off when it turned off and wake me up again when it started, so I didn't get very much sleep.

The lobby area was beautiful and the location was great. Our room was okay the air conditioner was leaking water they did send someone to fix it. The towels were old and rough. Parts of the ceiling was stained and plaster was missing.

If you are a history nerd, this is the hotel to visit. Built in the 1860's, staying here is an event. Winding staircases, tall ceilings, original doors and windows, creepy and crooked, you can't help but wonder what life has been like for this hotel, and the lives of all its customers over the years! Don't come here if you are expecting ultra comfort and perfection. Or stairs that are up to code. Or level floors. This ain't the one.

I love old historic hotels and this was no disappointment. Yes, it is a little rough around the edges but it is an old hotel and in pretty good shape for it's age. The A/C in our room worked really well and the ceiling fans were a nice touch. There are a lot of little maintenance details which could easily be handled: little paint here, a little attention there.
