Great location in heart of shopping. Stores and restaurants walkable. The front of the hotel nicely kept with ferns hanged along the awning. The lobby is amazing with great speakeasy feel and music. The antique furnishings are beautiful. Beautiful furniture extends to the rooms. The safe were great. Very nice, hospitable, engaging, always asking how your day is going/went. Very informative about restaurants and activities in the area. Gayle was amazing. She was our primary contact at the hotel. The others were great. While the rooms were nice, more beautiful antique furniture, the carpeting was old and worn down. The tile in the bathroom is 12x12 plain gray. Needs a little touch of elegance to be in line with common areas of hotel. The common areas on floors above the lobby are not air conditioned or were at least not being air conditioned during our stay the 2nd week of June. Really stuffy.

Cannot beat the vibe- spot on steamy week, vampires endemic

We loved.

There was no breakfast that we knew of. An elevator!!!!!!!!!!

Coffee in the lobby was good. Staff was nice. Our room was dirty. The bed sheets were clean but the floor was not swept and there were dead bugs in the bathroom floor. The toilet had not been scrubbed in weeks. It needed elbow grease or bleach. The couch was dirty and smelly. When you sat down on it you almost hit the floor. The bed was not comfortable.

Great location and quaint - liked the pool table upstairs. Had to leave early due to a leak from the ceiling in the bathroom

Beautiful hotel in an excellent location. Sue at the front desk was welcoming and helpful in every way. We took her advice and attended The Quarter bar downstairs. She said the band playing were excellent and she wasn't wrong. We enjoyed ourselves very much. Bathroom didn't have any counter space and was small but we managed, and frankly what we expected for an old vintage hotel. We still enjoyed the room and the view. This is just commentary because we weren't disappointed.

Everything walkable

The staff were courteous and helpful. The location was convenient for what we were interested in.. The overall ambience was good. There was not any breakfast available to buy or free. There was no daily housekeeping. Parking was a hassle. The stairs were a killer - elevator is needed at least for luggage. Insect infestation was not appealing. Very poor value meaning price for what you get. The idea of having to pay upfront without being able to cancel within 24 hours is awful. Will never use the booking service again - my fault second time I got ripped off by them.

Good location and very good hosts

The staff is always friendly and accommodating. 59 stairs up and 59 stairs down.

When I opened the door and seen the dirty stained carpet and noticed the bed frame that was appoilster on the bed was stained in several places. The sheet would not stay on the bed. I noticed that whomever made it didn't get them fitted correctly. Bathroom- mirror was hug to the moon and all I seen was the top of my hair. I could use a full length one. Bathroom looked like it needed cleaned and repainted. Yes the place was old but paint, cleaned along with the grout should have been done. I have never been in a room so disappointed. To

Sue at the front desk was great at accommodating our schedules throughout our stay. Great staff!

Great people..so helpful

Parking was a bit of a task but not much to do about that.

The bed in room 110 was literally like concrete and I could feel the actual springs in my back. The mattress was unacceptably old and needs replacing. I stayed in October and my bed was very comfortable. I was told at the desk that some of the mattresses were recently replaced. If you book a room here I would call ahead and ask if the room you’re getting has a newish mattress or at least only book one night so that if it is terrible you can look for somewhere else to stay because you can’t get a refund and they’re usually too booked for you to switch rooms. It’s a beautiful hotel and the staff are very friendly but for me a bed like that is a deal breaker.

I would have to say the only thing was the lights were coming right into the bedroom all night long. And I had to dig for that one.
