Old-fashioned and someone dated rooms, but still charming.

We arrived for a one night stay booked months in advance and were handed a letter from the very rude front desk woman telling us they were overbooked for the weekend and so would not be honoring the reservation. I have never been so poorly treated by a hotel in all of my years of travel. Avoid this hotel.

Much better than expected based on reviews I read before I booked. Larger room than expected. Clean. Comfortable bed. Well maintained. Old-fashioned but charming. Nice area.

Lady server in restaurant was vey helpful to my wife’s emergency with leg cramps by supplying her with pickle juice.

Only one towel bar in bath for 2 people, which is odd No place in bath to out toiletries, need a counter Coffee available in am for guests, not just take out cups that you have to pay for

Staff not willing to help of give a good service Will not recommend

I really enjoyed this property.

It reminded me a lot of the old Observatory in Sydney - that is, it has a colonial era feel. Beautiful tree lined streets, colonial style architecture and design. Very nice. +1

bar is good 2 towel racks in the bathroom, not just one. The room is for 2 people but only one set of towels can be in the room. a shelf or counter to put toiletries, and the hair dryer, not just a small one over the toilet a mirror in the room, for the other person, not just the full length mirror, a mirror over the nite stand

Room smells musty, carpet is old and tired Very expensive

Liked veranda and seating there. Location wonderful. Bathroom amply large and convenient. Generally a quiet hotel. Nice bar. Did not like dark restaurant,nor breakfast set up.Was on 5th fl and did not realize rooms higher up had view of lake.Reception area small, was only that, no place to wait if hotel busy. Reception also only a window, a little difficult to get info if needed.

Quite unhealthy choices for breakfast, croissants in the bar not up to standard (too fatty and heavy, not fluffy at all), decaf coffee available at the restaurant but not in the bar

Nice hotel in a great, walkable location in Evanston and would stay here again, but it’s time for some new beds. My work associate staying in a different room made the same comment.

Don't book here. Especially if you're of color.

Terrible staff. Racist overtones. No professionalism what so ever. Front desk folks are so bad.

Staff felt put out for helping. I ordered a $40 steak and it was sent to my room with no cutlery. It was inedible. I couldn’t cut it with my plastic fork I had from lunch. When I called to explain the smell of the steak was revolting, I was asked if I wanted ginger ale for my upset stomach.

It’s ok. However, not worth the price, even though it’s really convenient to Northwestern. Rooms are plain. Bathroom is plain. Bed felt like old mattress. People were very nice, and the restaurant was very good. Service was excellent even when we had a power outage caused by the city. The restaurant survived on gas grill and served. I was very impressed with them.
