Hilton Orrington / Evanston

The staff at the front desk were very nice. What I did not love about my room was that, aside from it being rather small, it was somewhat dusty and not well vacuumed. The bathroom was clean, however. Unfortunately, the bathroom was so small that it was very hard to comfortably use the toilet. And the tub was slippery and small so taking a shower was a bit difficult as well. The Orrington used to be considered one of the better hotels in Evanston, but I was not very impressed with the room.

Front desk staff are so friendly, welcoming, and helpful! The housekeeping personnel are also nice. They remembered us from our first stay back in April. The location is very convenient to restaurants, shops, and public transportation.

Parking valet was sometimes very slow due to staffing. Room was nice but wished we could have turned the thermostat down a little lower. the control would only allow the user to cool to 68 degrees. The room felt too warm at night.

The first room that was assigned to us was terrible; small, looked like a basement although it was on 3rd floor, had only ugly white lighting! Luckily the staff listened to our complaints and changed it immediately to a normal room. The staff was kind and polite. Our room was clean. Breakfast had a rich menu. However, there was no complimentary water bottles (we were told that the hotel ran out of water). They were being sold though.

Pleasant, quiet Location close to Lake ( 10 minute walk) , close to subway station, restaurants and stores, WholeFoods& TraderJoes, ; very comfortable beds ; clean & comfortable rooms; very attentive and friendly staff ; great cleaning and room service Elevators should switch to secure floor access via key cards

The Hilton Orrington is a great place to stay when visiting Northwestern. The location is ideal, the amenities are plentiful and the valet parking is very convenient. I will stay here again for my next visit.

We had stayed at this hotel about 5 years ago and it was incredibly worn and the service was poor at best-and I swore I would never go back. I learned they had updated the hotel -so I figured I would give it another chance- as there are so few options in Evanston during parents weekend etc. Unfortunately, it was just like putting lipstick on a pig- maybe they painted and got new bedding but it is still old and dilapidated - the bathrooms are yucky. The service was fine and we did like they have a little snack bar downstairs - but the room was disappointing.

Location was OK a bit impersonal, there was a Kellogg event and staff didn't make an effort to learn of it

We came on a work trip for our client with a disability to see the Cubs game. We booked two rooms, asked for adjoining at booking, called ahead, and at check in and still did not receive adjoining rooms. Hotel states that they are wheel chair accessible however the ramp down to the elevator is very steep and downhill. The elevator barely fit the wheelchair and had to be picked up to push it in the elevator. Also beds are extremely low to the ground in the accessible rooms. The doorways are not wide either. Valet did not understand how to take the parking brake off of our van to move it and only gave me 5-10 minutes to come down to the lobby to move the van and or explain how, While I have a wheelchair bound client that needed my full attention to get settled into the room. Just frustrating overall, staff at front desk were very friendly and helpful when we arrived but valet could use some patience and consideration for others especially ones with a disability. Great stay if your not looking for disability accommodations!

Gym was small. Breakfast not that healthy.

Rooms hot, windows nailed shut so couldn't get any fresh air, AC only cools to 20 degrees , thermostats pre-programmed I imagine for cost savings. With very muggy , hot rooms it was stifling.
