Ironclad Inn & Bourbon Room

What a lovely place with the friendliest and most helpful staff! Convenient location to all the shopping, dining and historical sites!

I'd do 5 stars all across (and add perfect location), except I'm a gardener and the outside garden area has the potential to be gorgeous but needs attention. If I'd been there longer, I would have asked to help, just because of the potential! We had a wonderful stay.

Great location, lovely breakfast room with good food options, nice seating areas to meet with friends. Optional Bourbon Room downstairs for drinks and snacks. Overall a super place to stay.

Not much Room was dirty musty and smelled moldy. Our room was nothing like what was pictured and advertised on the inn’s website.Very disappointed and would never recommend this stay! Won’t ever return here!

Second time here and it’s just lovely! Having a bat/restaurant open on the weekend is a huge plus when you’re exhausted from travelling and the staff is over the top accommodating. Sharon was so pleasant, fun and helpful! We’ll be back as it’s a steady stop from Charleston to visit out grands in PA

The inn is clean and pretty. Breakfast was amazing! Small complaints: we were there for three nights. There was a door tag with a “do not disturb “ and a “please make up my room.” So, we assumed that at least after the second night, with the tag flipped, someone would make up our room and give us fresh towels. Didn’t happen even though there were housekeepers working. The Bourbon Room bar looked cozy and inviting, but it was hardly open. We couldn’t figure out if they served any food. We didn’t even understand that it was a bar, not just a tasting room for bourbon, until we went down there. Then, though it was 8:15, we were told it was last call, so we left. I believe these things might be growing pains with new ownership. It’s a lovely property, great location, thankfully excellent air conditioning. Small adjustments, and it could be fantastic.

I can’t speak for the other rooms, but the room I stayed in looked beautiful but the bed was awful. Probably the most uncomfortable bed ever and creaked at the slightest movement. Also being in the front of the inn the “noise” you may hear in the description is an understatement. The traffic was so loud at all hours of the night with loud trucks and motorcycles reaving their engines and blaring music. Between the bed and the traffic there was no sleep. On the other hand staff was very accommodating and friendly. The bar in the basement was very cool and highly recommend grabbing a cocktail down there.

I called to ask questions and no one informed me that the bourbon bar was closed for 2-3 days. Sunday being one of them. It was the only reason we booked. We would still go back though!

We stayed one night at Ironclad Inn to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and it was such a wonderful experience. Every member of the staff was genuinely friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the Bourbon Bar was a fantastic place to unwind in the evening. We especially loved the inn’s charm and attention to detail. The antiques, rich history, and beautiful paintings by local artists really shows the properties character. It’s also perfectly walkable to historic downtown Fredericksburg, which made exploring easy and enjoyable. To top it all off, the breakfast was absolutely amazing. We can’t wait to come back! Nothing!

Breakfast was delicious with quick and friendly service! Location was perfect with a 5 minute walk to our dinning destination (Fahrenheit 132). The room and bed were quite comfortable providing a good night sleep ? Was apprehensive about the street parking, but all was fine as there were no incidents!
