Red Lion Hotel Harrisburg Hershey

Our stay at the Red Lion was disappointing, especially because the indoor and outdoor pools were a major reason we booked the hotel. Despite calling twice before arrival to confirm that both pools were open, we found that they were unavailable. The hotel also felt dated and damp, and cleanliness issues further affected our experience, particularly while traveling with kids. Pool Amenities The outdoor pool area is spacious and could be great for families, but the pool itself was dirty during our visit. The hotel may appeal to families who value outdoor recreation and extra space when the pool area is properly maintained. However, guests relying on the advertised pool amenities should confirm availability immediately before booking. Room Condition The inside of the hotel feels old and outdated, with a noticeable damp or moist feeling. Our sofa bed was also dirty, which made the room feel less comfortable and clean than expected. Cleanliness The dirty sofa bed and poorly maintained outdoor pool were significant concerns. These issues, combined with the overall damp feeling inside the hotel, made the property seem less clean and welcoming than expected. Overall Recommendation The outdoor pool area has potential, but the dated condition, cleanliness problems, and inaccurate information about pool availability significantly affected our stay. The hotel needs to update its interiors, improve housekeeping and pool maintenance, and provide more accurate information about amenities. Guests seeking a modern, fresh, and consistently clean property may want to consider other options.

The staff is what makes this place 5 star! They are all so nice and incredible. The pool was fun and all facilities.. The bed was super comfortable! Restaurant was closed but they worked it out for us. The ceilings were dropping from mildew. Very musky smell. Felt safe for the most part

This is probably one of my favorite hotels I’ve ever stayed at. Definitely my favorite with our kids. They have an indoor and outdoor pool, hot tub, playground, arcade, basketball and tennis court. Outdoor pool is HUGE. We could have made a vacation just at the hotel alone. It was in a stellar location. Next to a ton of stores and restaurants and fast food and very close to Hershey park and about an hour and a half from Crayola. Facilities were great. They were very full but very quiet. Very easy check-in and checkout process and the staff was always the friendliest and most accommodating. They were great about allowing us to use pool and playground during checkin and checkout too. The front desk staff from the week of 8/17 were all amazing at all times of day. Manager was amazing, personally introducing himself during our checkout and was so sweet with our kids; even giving them little toys to take home. Overall 10/10 experience.

Said no smoking but there was even smoking going on around the pool by a group of guys and they peed by the bushes behind the hotel . Ice machine on our floor had white particles in it obviously dirty. Can you refund us some money ? Smelled like someone was smoking Marijuana..

Two pools and a hot tub I liked everything

My family enjoyed our one night stay here. We spent the day at Hersey Park and found this amazing hotel to stay for the night. We arrived late night and the staff was so accommodating. Check in was awesome. We received an upgrade of our room and an extended checkout time. We were assisted with our bags and received extra bedding for our room. Rooms were clean. In the morning, we ate breakfast and went swimming in the indoor pool since it was raining outside. We will be back.

Overall, the hotel was great. This hotel has the friendliest staff and the pools were extremely clean, as well as the hotel, but the room was a bit outdated and had an overwhelming musty odor.

This hotel is severely neglected and desperately needs a complete renovation. There is obvious wear and tear everywhere, and it feels like maintenance has been ignored for years. Even the front lobby, which should make a good first impression, is filled with stained, ripped, and worn-out furniture. The fitness room was dirty, and the equipment was a joke. If you’re choosing this hotel because of the amenities, don’t. The pool and jacuzzi look nothing like the photos online they are extremely misleading and neglected. This hotel is nowhere near the standard it advertises. It’s very outdated, poorly maintained, and not worth the money. I would strongly recommend staying somewhere else until the owners invest in a complete overhaul of the property. The staff deserves much better than the conditions they’re expected to work in.

Seems like the ceiling tiles are dropping dust on the bedsheets, or this was not changed

Very clean inside and out. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Went the extra mile without being asked.

While the rooms are dated, overall the property is well maintained. My one complaint is on the second floor, which is more like a basement and where our room was located , it is very damp.
