Great location for the price. We stayed 3 days in Hilo and enjoyed the convenience of this hotel and the staff is wonderful. Paddle boarded the bay across the street. Drive downtown to farmers market. Great place to explore Hilo

This quaint property is nestled in a space that is open. Staff are amazing there is security present. I only wish the pool would stay open later. Thank you for a wonderful vacation.

Walk across street to cold water beach. Very clean rooms and cold A/C. Easy access to all beaches and restaurants.

Had last minute plan changes and happened upon this gem. I was very skeptical at first because the room itself was small and had a tiny window by the front door. It was like a cement room with a bed. The bathroom was large though. The beds were very comfy. We slept well. The property had so many things provided to do. Games, books, quiet rooms and the pool was amazing. It had shaded areas that were covered which was nice as there was a short downpour while we were swimming. We did not 7se them but, they also have paddle boards available for use while yoy stay. The property was kept immaculate. I am so glad I went ahead and stayed here. I will stay again.

Beautiful gardens and very professional and friendly staff.

Great location. A lot of reataurants around. It's very quiet at night. Mahalo to everyone who worked up front. A hui hou!!

The room was very dated and tiny, but spotlessly clean. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The air conditioning was a bit old and noisy. The laundry was ok, took a bit to work out how to use the machines, and having to know the zip code for Hilo (a quick trip to reception) but finally got washing done. The location is ok, with nice lagoon out the front and the Ocean over the road but was not quite what I expected. I have stayed in Banyan Drive before at another hotel and thought it would be closer to this, in a leafier part, but that was my bad investigation. Car parking handy and free but it is a very busy thoroughfare, with lots of locals frequenting the ocean front for fishing and picnics, especially on weekends. Some good restaurants within walking distance. There were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Coffee and tea is available at reception (and we did get it from there, and it was nice) but would prefer to be able to make it ourselves in the room.

Great hotel, friendly staff and beautiful pool area.

The property was beautifully decorated/renovated w beautiful greenery & natural wooden desks/tables. There are 3 common areas - the front w comfortable couches, water refilling station & coffee/tea, an inner lounge area w board games & books w comfortable seating and an indoor room w couches & pillows (which was too cold for my liking so I didn’t spend any time in there). The rooms are very small, especially for a family of 4 and the beds could have been a bit firmer. Bedding was comfortable & soaps/shampoo provided smelled nice. The position of the hand soap dispenser was between the sink & toilet which made for a messy sink area because the water dripping from your hands would collect on the counter and then drip to the floor. They have a window air conditioning unit in each room but because the windows don’t seal and the weather was consistently rainy the 3 days we were there, the room always felt damp and our towels & swimsuits never fully dried. The staff was incredibly friendly; they even offered free bicycles & paddle boards to use. Unfortunately we weren’t able to utilize them during our stay. I also appreciated how they try to conserve energy by having things off before guests arrive and part of the room fees are donated to an organization that helps families in need. We wished the pool hours would have been later than 7pm or earlier than 8am. Overall I loved the way the hotel looked & the amenities provided. Just wish everything wasn’t so damp & watery everywhere!

Basic room - property is old construction and they’ve just put in new floors and painted it. The staff is really nice, but not always the most helpful or responsive. No complaints, but also not impressed.

We had two rooms. Each bathroom had a large roach in. I'm really disappointed and there was an extra $25 fee! Never again.
-
Perfect stay. Perfect room right by pool side. Very much upgraded and renovated.

Convenient place with lots of nearby areas to walk or drive to. Staff was great and explained everything in detail.

Awesome place to stay!

This is a great hotel in a wonderful location! The staff was friendly and extremely helpful in answering questions. They had nice amenities including the pool, free use of bikes, and free use of stand-up paddleboards. The hotel is adjacent to the Hilo airport, so you do get noise from an occasional jet during the day and into the evening, but if you're visiting Hawaii, why on earth would you spend the day in your hotel room! There are several restaurants within easy walking distance to the hotel. Personally, I really liked Ken's House of Pancakes. (Yes, they serve dinner as well.) Both the food and the staff were great.

I booked the room by the pool. I loved that the room, pool, and laundry were right next to each other. Made it so easy to wash and pack on my last day. Plus, the restaurant next to the hotel had the best fried rice 😋

Older hotel, but very nicely maintained. Beautiful pool area and easy walk to a large number of excellent restaurants, park areas, and the bay. Room faced the front of the property and had a great view. Very eco friendly and offered free equipment use for paddle boarding in the bay across the street. As the building is quite old, some of the upper floors are likely not easily accessible if you have mobility issues, but the first floor rooms would be great. In room air conditioning worked well and the ceiling fan was excellent to keep the room comfortable. Had a small balcony with 2 chairs, but was big enough for 4 people to stand at the railing and enjoy the morning sun rise.
