We came with our 1 year old and it was a perfect vacation! We wanted a hotel where we didn’t have to leave for everything and this was the perfect spot! Delicious and varied food options, amazing staff, great beach access and family friendly pool. They came everyday and refreshed our room and we also loved the balcony so that once the baby went to bed we could go sit outside and enjoy the scenery and a drink. We appreciated that they had a bike rental on property, we loved using the bike with the seat on the back to bike around with our daughter so we didn’t have to Uber much or rent a car. On the beach next to the hotel they allow you to rent chairs an umbrella that are already put up and that was awesome, because once again when you have a baby you want simplicity and don’t want to have to lug around an umbrella and chairs. We didn’t want to leave!

Sonesta Hilton Head, from my perspective, is one of those resorts that quietly gets almost everything right. The moment you walk onto the property, the grounds feel intentionally cared for — lush gardens, ponds, palm trees, and a calm atmosphere that makes the whole place feel like a tucked‑away coastal retreat. The rooms aren’t trying to be ultra‑luxury, but they’re clean, modern, and genuinely comfortable, with coastal colors that make the space feel relaxed and inviting. The beach is the real standout: wide, soft sand, easy access, and a peaceful vibe that makes long walks feel effortless. The pool area matches that energy — spacious, clean, and surrounded by greenery that gives it a resort feel without the chaos. Food on-site is solid and convenient, though Hilton Head’s off‑property dining is stronger, so it’s easy to branch out. The location inside Shipyard Plantation adds to the sense of safety and quiet, while still keeping you close to everything you’d want to explore. Overall, Sonesta Hilton Head feels like a well-run, peaceful beachfront escape that delivers comfort, scenery, and a genuinely relaxing experience without trying too hard.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Sonesta! Our room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. We especially loved how easy it was to access both the pool and the beach, which made the stay very convenient and relaxing. The grounds are beautiful and very nicely kept. There are a couple of areas that could use some updating. The carpet, especially on the first floor, could use some attention. With so many guests coming in from the pool and beach, the carpet tends to stay wet, so replacing it with tile or another hard-surface flooring might be a great improvement. The microwave area near the ice machine could also use a little refresh and updating. Those are minor things compared to our overall experience. We had a wonderful stay, loved the location and amenities, and would absolutely stay here again. We’re already looking forward to coming back!

Great hotel, great amenities, great staff, wonderful beach

Pools were nice and plenty of chairs so never had issue getting a lounger Pool bar staff were excellent, took care of everything we needed all day Nice proximity to the beach so never had to lug stuff too far Pet friendly so was nice to bring the dog.

Very clean property with helpful staff. If going off property, be prepared to drive or Uber. Has a shuttle with limited service to Coligny Plaza only. You can catch the Tolley from there but the shuttle from the hotel is from 11-5 pm only.

Family vacation with children. Room was clean, beds were comfortable. Resort is new and everything is still very nice. Pool area is smaller than expected and was crowded during peak summer hours. (Only 1 pool is for families) Restaurant/bars were also good. Parking was easy. Great location on the island. Short walk to the beach. Only complaint was they refused to let us utilize a luggage cart on our own. (Had to use bellman) Not too big of a deal, I just don’t like other people handling my luggage/personal items. Would stay again.
