La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Birmingham Homewood

It was nice.

The front desk guy was friendly, and he was helpful when the front elevator broke down. We used the back elevator to get to our room. The room was clean enough, but the bedsheets felt damp-- the humidity in the room was high (even though the ac was cold)--and I had trouble sleeping. The shower wasn't as clean as I would like it. The rest of the bathroom was OK. They really need to change the promo on the room. They listed a "coffee grinder" among the amenities. There is no coffee grinder in the room! I usually don't expect them in hotels at this rate, but I was a little disappointed that it was listed when there wasn't one. Also, breakfast shut down right at 9! We were lucky to get two bowls of cereal before they took it all away. Overall, the room was "good enough," but it left a few things to be desired. The location is pretty good, so I think I'd stay here again if it was the best deal, and it was a pretty good deal, but there are plenty of hotels in the Birmingham area. So I still might consider this one, but shop around.

Compared to Albuquerque this was a 5 star stay. The only negative were the idea bed pedestals. They were metal and every time it got hit was a loud gong. Add something to stop sound.

Hotel was cleaning and the staff were kinda helpful. The tv’s were not working properly and the WiFi is absolutely terrible !

This destroyed any illusion of cleanliness. Ashamed.

Overall just very disappointed in the cleanliness. The staff at the front desk were nice. But the maids were unprofessional (singing/rapping in the lobby and smoking/laying down next to the pool where kids were) and obviously not doing their jobs. I used to like la quintas but after this experience, I will never stay at one again.

The elevator is a bit outdated, but the breakfast was fairly decent. The hotel is in a quiet area with convenient access to Walmart, Sam’s Club, Dollar Tree, and several other stores. Parking is fairly limited.

The room and breakfast buffet was as expected. The gym was closed for remodel. The pool could have used a good cleaning. The staff were very nice and helpful.

Hotel worked for what we needed. Quick stay with a dog.

The rooms were spacious and very clean. The acoustic was excellent, no noise from other rooms around.

The hotel stunk of cigarettes and air freshener. Mine and my kids asthma was awful. The hallways and stairwells were filthy. The elevators were not working. The breakfasted a lot to be desired. The desk staff was friendly but it doesn’t make up for the overall experience at the hotel. Our room was fairly clean but the smell was not completely gone. We debated even just leaving and finding a different hotel to stay at even though we already paid.

There was spilled milk and wrappers in front of the microwave, plastic wrappers under the desk, and drops of blood in several different places on the floor. I have pics and videos of myself cleaning it up. The shower ledge and drain contained clumps of hair. There was broken glass outside the elevator door. 0 out of 10 for cleanliness. The unsanitary conditions in our room were a serious biohazard with the blood (I’m in medical and I recognize it when I see it). Susie at the front desk was lovely and kind. She took my info and will have the manager call me. I look forward to speaking with management.

Only booked this hotel because it said it had 2 pool bars. All lies. Not even 1 bar.

Disgusting, filthy, heavy smell of potpourri trying to cover up the smell of animal pee in the carpet. Stained sheets, pillows and bedspread, disgusting shower, extremely hot in the hallways, trash all over the grounds. Lazy staff, cant speak good English and on their phones sitting down instead of working. This hotel should be ashamed of itself

Elevator very dirty and in need of repair 3 men sitting right at the entrance door within a foot or 2 of the door where we were told to enter hotel each man was smoking an each had a 12 pack of beer --My wife did not feel safe The hallways and room all smelled very bad AC did not work well

Our room was clean and the AC was amazing. The property had a nice pool but the folks smoking weed every time we tried to enjoy the pool was a huge problem. Also, the elevator was broken the entire week. Our room was right beside the elevator so one afternoon we had to listen to the “dinging” for hours!

Elevator not working and stairwell was messy and needed to be vacuumed. Toilet didn't work but was fixed quickly
